To which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

II Thessalonians 2: 14

Paul uses the words our Gospel to demonstrate that The Good News that The Lord Jesus told us to preach to all creation is our ownership. In fact, when The Word of God reached us the voice of The Most High made us understand the plan of salvation and, because The Word was sent to us IT actually became our possession. Just like any other heavenly gift The Gospel which saves us will never be taken away from us.

The Good News calls us for a series of blessings being the salvation of our soul the greatest one of them. Once saved, provided we persevere to the end, we’ll never perish. Salvation enriches us with those spiritual jewels conquered for us: divine healing (Isaiah 53: 4, 5), the forgiveness of sins (Matthew 9: 6), prosperity (Matthew 3: 10), free access to God (Ephesians 2: 18), among other so precious spiritual gifts which we begin being acquainted with through The Word of The Lord and all that is given freely to us.

The saved only need to pay heed to The Word for The Holy Spirit to open up their understanding concerning their ownership in Christ. Once you are aware of what belongs to you, you must take it as a priority and then, fearlessly, you must be certain that through your faith your taking possession of those things which belong to you will come true indeed. We aren’t entitled to demand anything from God but, in The Name of Jesus, we can command evil to go away. On top of that, we must call for those promises given to us to become true.

Our goal is to reach the glory of our Lord and Jesus Christ and that’s tremendous considering that there’s no greater glory than the one The Son of God enjoyed. Just imagine what’s being proposed to us: we don’t have to seek the glory of Abraham, the father of the faithful, a glory which would, by itself, be enough; nor the one of King David who was the greatest ruler of the history of Israel; neither should we seek that of Moses, the most significant deliverer and ruler ever. We have to be longing for the glory of the Only Son of God who is God Himself along with our Father.

Jesus had free access to The Most High and our Master never knew defeat considering that He was absolutely certain that Heaven and earth would pass but His Words would never pass (Matthew 24: 35). He was well acquainted with men’s reasoning and He didn’t need anybody to tell Him. The Son of God’s prayers never failed to be successfully answered. He was God at all times – Lord above all things – and, at the same time, a man made of flesh just like any other human. He came to show us what benefits those who are faithful to our Father might get.

We need to bear in mind the goal given to each one of us by The Lord: seeking the glory granted to The Saviour of mankind. Christ didn’t spare any effort because He always sought it and made sure He put it into practice with all His strength. God expects the same from us, so that we may glorify Him.

My friend, if you sadly happen to let the opportunity of reaching the glory of Jesus run through your fingers you’ll be failing to meet the The Lord’s plan for your life. On the other hand, if you seek it you’ll be saying “good bye” to all of your failures and “welcome” to the divine blessings.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
