You have with Your arm redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. (Selah)                                                                                        Psalm 77.15

The facts of the Old Testament symbolize the events resulting from the coming of the Savior, the Son of God. He would make the Gentiles true sons of the Most High, a people who would do His full will (Colossians 2.17; Habakkuk 10.1a). Today, those who were servants, the Jews, need to accept Jesus, son of Mary, as the Savior, in order to also claim the position of members of the Body of Christ, the Church. Whoever remains rebellious will have no place in the Kingdom of God (John 3.3,5).

The message was addressed to Jacob’s children – his descendants by blood and therefore heirs of the blessings promised to Abraham. These also belong to us because we are part of God’s family (Romans 4.9-17). Now, we are the Lord’s spiritual children and therefore His inheritance. The reason He spoke of Joseph’s sons is because Joseph was chosen among his brothers for a special mission. We will talk about him later on!

Jacob’s sons were and are important in God’s plan, because they have in their blood the craving that can make them special in the Lord’s hands. They are known as Israelites, because of the patriarch’s name, which was changed to Israel after he fought with God and prevailed (Genesis 32.28). Jacob was a man who knew how to be a servant of the Almighty, and for his loyalty, he was promised a series of gifts, which makes God’s people protected by Him. But He loves everyone equally!

Joseph’s sons refer to the descendants of this servant of God. When Joseph was chosen by the Lord, he did not disappoint Him and began to serve Him with integrity of soul and heart. Jacob loved this son in a special way because he was called by the Most High to a work that would give life to people everywhere. We should also have a special regard for those who have a mission from Heaven, for even for a cup of water given to people there will be a reward (Matthew 10.42).

Despite his sorrows, Joseph did not complain about what he suffered in order to be useful in the divine plan. After being elevated to prime minister of the largest nation in the world at the time, he showed himself to be of good. He did not take revenge on Potiphar’s wife or on his brothers who first tried to kill him and then passed him on to the Amalekites, who sold him into slavery in Egypt (Read Genesis, chapter 37 to 45). The servant of God suffers everything, because he loves the Lord. In love there is no revenge, but good justice.

The important thing is to love God above all things, offering the world the good that can change the lives of the lost. It doesn’t matter where we will serve Him, how long the trial lasts or how heavy they are. Like Jacob who worked for Laban for seven more years because he loves Rachel, whatever we have to go through will be as nothing (Genesis 29.20). Those who love the Lord do not care how they are treated, because they are looking for a better reward (Habakkuk 11.35).

At the Master’s return, only those faithful in fulfilling the mission received from Heaven will occupy a special position among the nations: And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ (Luke 19.17). Therefore, never complain about anything, or leave the work for any reason. God calls us and rewards us. He is the righteous justice that man has never known!

In Christ, with love,

Our Lord! What an arm You have, that You can save us and carry us and empower us in Christ, our Lord! There are no words to express our gratitude and affection for You, for above all, You live in us. Who are we to receive such honor and love?

The remission that You have carried out has brought us out of darkness and into Your Kingdom and Your house of love and mercy. In Your Kingdom, we are secure, knowing that nothing will take us out of Your hands. In it, we are servants with the task of raising other servants!

The sons of Jacob look up to us, for, being unaware of the promise made to Abraham, his son Isaac and grandson Jacob, we believe Your Word and feel like Your heirs. Joseph is an example of one who was loved and, even in trials, did not go astray!
