Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.

Luke 8:18

Every once in a while an “enlightened” individual sprouts amid God\’s people and comes with the old talk according to which everything has already been pre-destined and nothing happens outside of it. However, based on the declaration of Jesus contained in Luke, it is clear that fatalism has nothing to do with God at all, otherwise His Word would have to be changed. The Master said that we must take heed how we hear because that is the measure with which we will be measured. If it were otherwise, wouldn’t He have said it?

Great is our responsibility to hear what the Lord tells us through the reading the Bible or the preaching of the Word. He who does not pay attention to the \”Manufacturer\’s Manual\” will not be able to enjoy all that the \”product\” can give him. The Lord, who is our true Father, not only knows what is good for every one of His children, but also recorded these instructions in His Word so that we could have the wisdom to not put His name to shame but to be successful in any situation.

The Almighty tells us to hear and fulfill what is being ordained in His Word because in this way we will always do what is right. He would never say something that was not 100% safe or without importance. So take possession of what you understand from the Scriptures because it is the best for you. If you ignore what is taught, even if you attain success for a certain period of time, you will later come to the conclusion that you have not made the right choice.

Take heed how you hear because the importance of having respect for God is fundamental in order to be given more. He who holds fast to what is given to him, who puts the divine commandment into action and does not get carried away by any other form of “inspiration” will realize that his obedience was admired and rewarded. After giving us something, the Almighty is already preparing to pour more blessings into our lives.

The lazy ones, however, besides never receiving anything more than what they were already granted, are at risk of losing what they think they have. In fact, he who does not have the fear of God in his heart is not respectful of Him and therefore does not fulfill the orders given to him; as a result, even what he seems to have will be taken from him – just as it happened with Saul. Samuel told him exactly what to do, but the king did not comply with the commandment and eventually lost his kingdom (I Samuel 15:22-23).

Now, do not be fooled by rebelliousness or by any other temptation! Be faithful to that which was given to you as a mission because in this way you will see that it is worth pleasing the Lord; after all, the Word says that those who delight themselves in Him shall be given the desires of their heart (Psalm 37:4).

When Truth related to a certain subject is revealed to you the Lord’s part ceases and yours starts. It is up to you to decide how to lead your life and what you will have!

In Christ with love,
