They joined themselves also to Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices made to the dead. Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds, and the plague broke out among them. Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stopped. And that was accounted to him for righteousness to all generations forevermore.

Psalm 106:28-31

Balak hired Balaam to curse God’s people. Because of a promise of financial reward, that prophet sold himself to the enemy, but the Lord forbade him to cast any curse against His people. Nonetheless, Balaam committed a filthy act in the eyes of the Lord: he taught the Moabite women to seduce the children of Israel. The enemy understands that he cannot curse us, but he can get the “Moabites” to tempt us. So the servants of the Most High should be careful in order not to fall.

God was appalled by the association of His children to Baal of Peor. Not only did they eat things sacrificed to the dead – the demons – but they also practiced acts that were contrary to sexual nature. So His wrath befell those people and consumed many of them. Amidst all this, an Israeli man took a Midianite woman to his tent, provoking the Lord with the uncleanness acts practiced there. On the one hand, God’s servants admonished people against their error; on the other hand the supporters of such practice were displaying a blatant disrespect.

Phinehas, grandson of Aaron, took a javelin and went to the tent of sin and thrust both man and woman who were committing harlotry. He executed the judgment of the Almighty, and as a result the punishment ceased. Today, we do not need to do what he did, because our ministry is intended to save lives. Therefore, with our Lord’s guidance, we must enter into His presence and, with authority, prohibit the devil from leading people into sin.

The Word says that the husband has power over his wife and the wife over her husband (I Corinthians 7:4). Parents have power over their children and so they can rid them of any abnormality. As children of God, when we use the authority with which we are clothed on behalf of someone, we benefit that person so greatly that our Father will never forget what we have done.

What Phinehas did benefited him greatly on that day and will accompany him throughout eternity. No matter who we help, our reward will never end. Those who do not intercede for sinners, or take the Good Seed to those who are enslaved by sin do not know how much they miss out on. God is not unrighteous to forget all our acts of love and kindness towards the lost.

The Almighty will consider everything you do for those who do not perceive the Word as acts of justice. The reward for each life you have reached will never leave you. It will be like a title of honor which will last from generation to generation and throughout eternity. So be sure to spend your time and knowledge helping those in need of a word, or even the deliverance of sins.

In Christ with love,
