Now let it be that the young woman to whom I say, ‘Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink’—let her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. And by this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master. Genesis 24.14

The path of Abraham’s servant was easy, because he learned with the patriarch to depend on God in all moments. Since he was a man of prayer, he always asked direction from the Creator in order to act. While he prayed, the Spirit of God guided him to speak as he should, something that was certainly the divine answer. This has happened with everyone who truly lives in the presence of the Lord, and then, when they see a situation happening, it is as if they had already seen that story before.

How many times has God directed you, and even before you finished your prayer, you saw the answer right before your eyes? Continue to prepare yourself to serve, for as Jesus said to Nathanael (John 1.45-51), we will see angels going up and down over the Son of God and we will be able to see the same thing happening to Your servants. God’s work has been prevented from growing due to various reasons, among them, worldliness, greed, and several evil practices.

Whoever hinders the growth of God’s work due to personal desires, harlotry, and other sins, will be held accountable on Judgement Day. Christ said about those who are responsible for scandals, both who practice or propagate them, that it would be better if they had a stone tied to their neck and thrown to the bottom of the sea (Luke 17.1,2). Woe to the one who calls himself a servant, but is not watchful and falls into temptation, not fulfilling the ordinances of the Lord and living selfishly! Do not play around with God!

Everything went right with the request that the servant of Abraham did. It is as if he had already lived that before, but that had never happened. Truly, he was in the Spirit, and as he prayed, the Most High put in his mouth exactly what would happen. If the Father has already used you to save someone, help a needy person and bring them back to Him, you are a servant. Now, if you have not attended the divine calling, you will repent because of it. Therefore, return to the practice of your first love.

Demas decided to abandon the apostle Paul to follow this world (2 Timothy 4.10). Maybe, he became rich or influential in society; after all, he had been well prepared by Paul. However, in the last Day, what will Demas say about the talent that he buried? Will his material success erase the wrath of God? Of course not, for he who has been called for a mission and despised it will be called a wicked and evil servant, whose place will be in the outer darkness (Matthew 25.26-30). Do not wish to be such a person!

We never hear that David regretted going to take care of his father’s few sheep. When a lion attacked one of them, the boy killed it, and did the same to a bear. Later, when he saw the giant Goliath defying the forces of Israel, he offered himself to defeat him. His school was at the sheepfold!

The history of the Church tells stories of people that consecrated themselves to the Lord and did His will. Some were killed, tortured, and prohibited to be helped in their needs when they refused to follow the laws of the state religion. Many people today also suffer for the Gospel. However, it is worth being a servant. Amen!

In Christ, with love,

Father! Why do some people don’t do what we ask or order, if we have received Your direction? After all, if we are used to lead salvation to these people, why do some refuse the reward, which will follow them if they are obedient? May them recognize their mistakes!

On the other hand, we find consecrated people that did not accept gifts and goods in order to depend fully on You. Your Spirit, Your Word, and the Name of Jesus must move Your servants. The apostles discovered this truth and they loved You!

Lift up other abnegated servants that surrender themselves to You unconditionally, without caring where they will sleep or eat, because they will do the work out of love for You. Great will be their reward, for the world is not worthy of their existence. Thank You, Lord!
