“I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.” (Psalm 17:6)
King David learned a secret: God wants to hear His children. However, as incredible as it might seem many of them do not know it yet because they only pray when they are in need. In fact, if they learned that the Lord wants to hear them, that their voices are sweet to God and that He is always at their disposal, they would live a life of prayer and then they would find out that by being constantly in communion with the Father, the enemy would not harass them. It is extremely important to come near God’s throne of God often because in this way the Holy Spirit can easily shape us.
Those who are successful in life learn to hear our Father speaking through His Word when IT is being preached, when they read the Bible and through communion with Him. Yet, many times we can only hear Him in our moments of prayer. Now, it is important to learn how to pray. To many people praying is about closing one’s eyes and mumbling some words or making complaints to the Lord when something is not going well. Yet, praying is about keeping the communion we have with God, opening our hearts and listening to His Words. Praying is always about overcoming!
For us to get an answer from the Lord we have to invoke Him with faith, without which it is impossible to please Him (Hebrew 11:6). If we pray just for praying or because we are in need, we will not be answered. Yet, when we call God with the assurance that we will be answered we know at once that He has listened to us and then the next step is to be grateful to Him for the Grace granted to us. Undoubtedly, we can say that David invoked the Lord with faith because his words stood firmly in the divine promises.
We mustn’t be afraid of God; after all, He is our Father and it was His decision to call us for the Gospel work. That great work of the Lord caused us hear His sweet message and respond to it. Besides, we were called to be part of the Body of Christ, His Son, and be only
one with Him. To do this we need His attention and His ears to hear our requests.
What mattered to David was to have God hear him and to examine his heart and also to remove from it everything that did not please Him. That is the reason why he cried out to the Lord with faith. My brother, it is not right to full around with prayer and not take it seriously. A prayer can only be said with faith in order to reach results such as sanctification, victory over temptations, healing of diseases, solution to problems, etc. Those who pray the right way will eventually overcome because the Lord hears them and always gives them the right direction.
In Christ, with love,
