Concerning this temple which you are building, if you walk in My statutes, execute My judgments, keep all My commandments, and walk in them, then I will perform My word with you, which I spoke to your father David. And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake My people Israel.

I Kings 6: 12, 13

The Lord didn’t answer positively the request of David who wanted to build the temple up despite of his being a man after the heart of God (Acts 13: 22). The Most High said that David would not be granted such honour on account of his bad decisions concerning wars; yet, He went on saying that Salomon, David’s son, would be the one to carry out that task (I Chronicle 22: 8 – 10). So, later on when Salomon had taken over the throne of Israel he did what he’d been told (I Kings 6).

Each person who is converted to The Gospel must build a house to The Lord – their own life – according to the directions of The Divine Word. To do that they are to listen to what they’re being told by God. Once your house is built – a life free from sin and filled up with The Holy Spirit – God will show you what attitudes to take on every occasion as a member of The Body of Christ. Provided you pay heed to the Words of The Most High and provided you fulfil His ordinances you’ll undoubtedly be rewarded.

Considering that our Father loves us and that He doesn’t want us to go to Heaven empty-handed to enjoy eternal life, He entrusts us with particular missions to be accomplished. Those who listen to Him and are obedient to His command will see that, through His love, they have a right to take part in His work. Those who refuse to do what the divine wisdom put in their hands will see one day that that was indeed their most foolish error ever.

Bearing in mind that the reward of those who are obedient is perennial you’ll see that fulfilling the divine ordinances isn’t that hard because you’ll be capacitated by The Lord Himself to accomplish the mission entrusted to you. Salomon was expected to walk according to God’s statutes, to execute His judgements and keep all divine commandments and the same goes for us. Walking according to the statutes is actually obeying the list of rules of The Kingdom of God; executing His judgements is actually taking possession of what He has already done or decreed on our behalf and keeping the commandments is paying heed to all those divine commands.

Once we follow those steps The Lord will confirm the word given to Jesus to bless us. In Salomon’s case David was the one who received such word instead. As for us the words are actually all the promises found in The Scriptures, those which were made by The Most High. Those people who are obedient to Him will realise that The Most High will indeed fulfil everything promised to the fathers by the prophets and ultimately to Jesus and His apostles. We’re heirs and heiresses of all the blessings in The Scriptures.

Once God’s House was built up He said to Salomon that He’d dwell among the children of Israel; now, Christ firmly stated that He’d be with us to the end (Matthew 28: 20). Provided you accomplish your mission and provided you won’t touch that which is forbidden, you will possess much more than those riches Salomon had because you’re living the fullness of The Covenant made by The Lord with mankind through the blood of Jesus. The Almighty will never forsake those who do His will.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
