Remember the Law of Moses, my servant, which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.  Malachi 4.4

Every nation has its law, and all citizens must respect it; otherwise, they will be punished. This verse mentions the Law of Moses, created by God for His people – long before the coming of the Savior. It served as a bridge between the Most High and the Israelites, so that they could obtain divine favor. Today, after the payment made by Jesus by taking our sins upon Himself, the law that works is called the perfect law of liberty, according to which we have access to the Father (James 1.25).

The message of the last prophet of the Old Testament was meant to remind us of the Law of Moses. The Scriptures had predicted, through Moses, that God would raise up among them another prophet in his likeness whom they should follow: The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear (Deuteronomy 18.15). No doubt this new Prophet brought the perfect law of liberty, and we must listen to Him.

It’s true that Moses delivered Israel from the captivity of Egypt, which I consider less than a grain of sand compared to the real captivity – far greater than the mountains in the world – the spiritual one. We were forever in Satan’s clutches, but the beloved Son of God brought eternal deliverance. Christ said that He did not come to destroy the Law of Moses, but to fulfill it (Matthew 5.17).

We have a duty to pray so that the Jews may have removed the veil that covers their heads, preventing them from seeing the greatness of the work done by the Savior (2 Corinthians 3.15). But the day will come when this obstacle will be removed, and they will recognize Jesus as the Messiah, who came to fulfill the promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, their patriarchs (Romans 11.26). Then they will all follow what they were told in Horeb and see that their fathers crucified the Word of Life for everyone’s sake!

In his epistles, Paul the Jew, formerly Saul of Tarsus, talks about the greatness of the Gospel and the fulfillment of God’s Word, saying that the Messiah became the curse of the Law. Thus, the blessings would also reach the gentiles: that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3.14). In His death, Jesus made us, the gentiles, and them, the Jews, His only people (Ephesians 2.13-16).

The purpose of the Law of Moses was to prepare the people to be the Lord’s, but no one achieved this because it was strict. In the law of liberty, the Gospel, what was impossible for the Law has become possible for all – Gentiles and Jews (Romans 8.3). Thus, we became citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven and brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. There is a group already saved among Jacob’s descendants. The day will come when they will see Him whom they pierced and greet Him as their Lord (John 19.37; Revelation 1.7).

The Good News of what Jesus did in His death prepares us to live in the Lord’s service with all our hearts. The saved don’t care where they come from, or with any other thing. They are interested in knowing that they have achieved the fulfillment of all that was promised. That is why they want to take the Message to the lost, everywhere.

In Christ, with love,

God of the Covenants! May the day soon come when Jacob's descendants by the flesh, the Israelites, will have the veil removed from their understanding and will accept Christ as Lord and Savior. Then You, who made the Covenant with their fathers, will receive them with love!

Let us remember the promise that You would raise up among them one like Your servant Moses, and he would be great before You. You sent Your Son to set the lost free. Now is the consummation of all things, for which we praise You!

Enable us to obey the statutes and judgments. In this way, You will be acknowledged as God and Lord. We want to live according to Your Word; for this, we come to Your Kingdom. You are all we need, Father. We love You with holy fear!
