Moreover, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, my own special treasure of gold and silver: 1 Chronicles 29.3

The Lord’s servants prove that they love Him when they seek the commandments and keep them (John 14:21). In addition to the materials David kept for the building of the Lord’s temple, he gave from his private treasury, for he had plenty. People whose hearts are inclined towards God’s work are different from those who never find reasons to help the church in general!

The biblical principle for receiving financial blessings is easy to learn. By following it, we will attain the promised reward, as the Scriptures declare: Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put  into your bosom; for with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you (Luke 6.38). It is not a bargain with Jesus, but, from His touch, this law is waiting for us!

No doubt David was generous in his offerings to the Lord, and so he always prospered. He had the principle of loving divine righteousness (the Word of God), and so he spoke with all propriety: Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually; “Let the LORD be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” (Psalm 35.27). The king learned the “right path” and did not keep the secret to himself. What a blessing! Use it!

In Psalm 23, well-known even to unbelievers, the son of Jesse declares with all his might that he has the Lord as his Shepherd, showing that it was good that God took the wool off his back as a sheep of the Most High: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want (v. 1). The psalmist goes on to speak of what the Almighty was doing on his behalf, shepherding him in the right way. God wants to do the same for those who gather to Him, no longer of themselves, but of Him!

Solomon wrote about prosperity: He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich (Proverbs 10.4). A deceitful hand is the ability of a man who does not obey God and yet boasts of such a sad deed. But the hands of the diligent, who seek the Word in every matter, take divine guidance, and it becomes the norm in their lives. The heavenly Father loves the zealous in His work!

A little further on in the biblical text, King Solomon speaks again about what the blessing of the Almighty does in our life: The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10.22). Two facts must be understood for those who believe in the Lord: first, the blessing enriches; second, it does not add sorrow, but delivers from curse and misery. We are graced by God with the best of the Holy Scriptures!

Finally, let’s learn from Jesus, who spoke about the goods given by the Most High: If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him? (Matthew 7.11). How about starting to believe now?

In Christ, with love,

Lord of painless prosperity! Each time we study Your Word, we are grateful for the Truth revealed, and it does us so good. We must do Your will, believing that blessing never adds sorrow. We thank You for Your teaching!

We must not be silent, but pass on Your instructions to others in the church, especially those who want to love You - to seek Your commandments and keep them. Your part will always be fulfilled with good measure.

From now on, we will open our eyes. Then we will see the Truth and give You the glory, praise and honor for what You have prepared to deliver to us. We want to see Your work go forth into the world, bringing the richest testimonies. Amen!
