“I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.” (Galatians 2:21)
The Grace of the Lord came over mankind at the coming of Jesus. It’s the power of God at work in our favor and it’s to be assumed by faith according to what the Scriptures state. That movement of the Lord is enough to make the lost receive complete salvation, and to deliver drug addicts from their addictions or to heal diseases. The divine Grace must be received by faith in order to fulfil God’s dreams; so, having faith is the opposite of scepticism.
However impossible it might seem, men can set aside the Grace of God over their own lives. When men resist the Lord’s operation or when they don’t give Grace due attention they can cause the power that comes from above to be destroyed – the same power God had determined to benefit their lives. That’s a real risk men might take and it’s our Father Himself who says so. Those who commit such act of insanity will be left completely helpless to fight against any adversities which, by the way, aren’t few at all. My brethren, it’s good to remember that the mastermind behind any unfortunate occurrences is the enemy of our souls.
Our worthiness of blessings is an act of God’s mercy who loved us so much that He gave His only Son to die in our place (John 3:16). When the Most High opens our understanding, we can say that such an act is a credit of worthiness He gives us. Therefore, because God loves us – and only because of that – we can claim what He promises, we can trust His word.
Jesus’ death wasn’t worthless and it didn’t happen by chance. It was God’s plan, the only plan that could be carried out in order to take us close to Him. The worst sin someone might commit is to despise what the Son of God did for them. He left His glory in order to be born into this world like any one of us, as a human, and that humbling attitude continued until His death on the Calvary cross. Christ’s only purpose was to redeem us all for our Father.
If you truly believe that the Lord died in your place and cry out for the rights you have to the promises contained in the Scriptures, you’ll be honoring Him. He stated that He honors those who honor Him (Romans 13:7). On the other hand, if you despise what our Master did for you to be rescued and to have eternal life, you’ll be throwing yourself into the eternal flames where you’ll never be able to get out from.
Those who live by faith confess what the Word of God says about them and don’t accept anything less than the promises of the Scriptures. That’s how people please God and, as a result, He gives them His strength. Living by faith is a divine precept that everybody should abide by. So, don’t live by the Law, but by the certainty of faith.
In Christ, with love,
R. R. Soares
