I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will put his hand on your eyes. Genesis 46:4

Many times in Jacob’s journey, the Lord promised to be with him wherever he went and now when he went down to Egypt, the Almighty reaffirmed His promise. Therefore Jacob should not fear going to the land of the Pharaoh since God was in on the project. If this was true with the Hebrew patriarch, why won’t this be true with us every time we seek Him searching for help?  Actually all our decisions must be placed in our conversations with Him.

When the Lord comes with us we enjoy His protection.   If we had any doubts as to whether we should travel or not, we don´t have it anymore.  On the other hand, if God did not promise to come with us we must desist and cease any further movement in this direction.  To walk in His absence is to look for trouble, since the enemy, knowing we are alone, will certainly attack and we will not be able to resist.

Even with God on our side or before us we must take care not to fear; otherwise, He will not be able to rescue us.  Why fear anything if the Lord Almighty promises to go with us?  If there are any unpleasant surprises just ask Him to intercede or intervene, because that is the reason why He promised to go with us during the journey.  I am certain that in Eternity the Most High will show us how much He helped us.  Halleluiah!

The Lord affirmed that He would make Jacob return to Canaan, but this part was not to be in his life because Jacob died in Egypt.  His remains were embalmed and taken to Canaan where he was buried.  Only in Heaven will we know if Jacob himself preferred to stay in Egypt any longer.  There are things we do not understand now but one day we will know the whole story.

Jacob’s death was beautiful.  Feeling that his time to join his deceased parents was at hand, he blessed each son and prophesied how they would live.  Then he pulled up his feet and expired.  Joseph threw himself on his father and kissed him (Genesis 50:1) and fulfilled the Word.  The Lord declares that the death of His saints is precious before Him (Psalm 116:15). So there is no reason to regret or to mourn the departure of anyone who served God in Spirit and in Truth.

Today we do not have to invoke the blessings on Abraham, Isaac and Jacob since we are heirs to them but only to those conceded to Christ.  Since we must do the same works that He did and knowing they were fulfilled in His ministry as we invoke the God and Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus, we fall heir and lay hold of that which was conceded to the Lord.  After all, we are part of the body of Christ and God will honor us in Him.                                    

Jesus perfected the promise to the patriarchs when He promised he would be with us every day until eternity!  Truly we have His best during our entire journey on Earth because we have the presence of the Son who is God with the Father and therefore Almighty, who was given all Authority and Power in Heaven and on Earth. Amen?
