Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.  2 Timothy 1.6

After talking about the value of a genuine faith, Paul tells the one he called a son in faith that his greatest mission was yet to come. To do this, he should awaken the gift of God given to him by the laying on of the apostle’s hands. Surely Paul did not do this by chance or for carnal reasons, for he was responsible before the Lord (1 Timothy 5.22). He acted as commanded and then, guided by the Holy Spirit, admonished Timothy to manifest the divine gift.

What a privilege we have: to be channels to bless those He has placed under our care! The right thing in every pastor’s life is to reproduce himself in so many others placed under his leadership, because the work cannot stop. However, those who give themselves over to sin will pay a high price for their deviation and will go to the lake which will burn with fire and brimstone for ever and ever (Revelation 21:8). Mercy!

The proud shout their independence without knowing how much they will lose by letting the devil influence them to do the opposite of the Word’s guidelines: Let the righteous strike me; it shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; it shall be as excellent oil; let my head not refuse it. For still my prayer is against the deeds of the wicked (Psalm 141.5). Poor lives! They are lost because they do not humble themselves before the Lord. Pray!

The gift given to us is like a bag of minas – gold coins (Luke 19.13) – to be used in the negotiation expected by the Kingdom of Heaven. Thus, the lost will be saved and you will be praised in the accountability to come. After Zacchaeus revealed that he had been touched by the preaching of the Master, Jesus told one of the most powerful and enlightening parables about our attitude towards the gifts received from the Lord, saying that the person who neglects them will be lost (Luke 19.11-27). Friend, change your life lest you fall into sin!

Everything that people need to hear from you in order to be blessed is in the gift you have received or will receive – by the laying on of hands from someone prepared for that. Pray about it and rest in the Lord, without forgetting that what He entrusts you must be doubled for the sake of His Kingdom. Do not neglect your obligation and remember: we will answer for what we have done with God’s gift.

Wake up and you will awaken the Almighty’s gift for your fate, happiness and success in life. Without a doubt, the Father always gives the best to each of us, including our mission. Failing to fulfill His will will be a tragedy. Whoever endures to the end will be saved (Matthew 24.13), but whoever allows sin to take over his life again will never stand before the Most High and His power. Love Jesus indeed and in truth!

Thank God for who those who laid hands on you and for the abilities given to you, and be the Lord’s servant at all times. After all, what you lacked was supplied. Now, do what you have been commanded, using the Name more powerful than any other name, the Name of Jesus! (Philippians 2.9).
