11/12/2020 - THE ACTIONS OF THE BRANCH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

“Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. Jeremiah 23:5

The announcement of Jesus’ coming started from the very beginning, in the garden of Eden, shortly after our first parents sinned. This proves that God did not accept the new position in which man was placed: submissive to the devil. The Lord drew up a perfect plan and began to unfold it from then on. It was a long way for mankind to be freed from the forces of darkness. Now, one only has to believe to be saved.

Over time, God gave more details about the Savior to come. One cannot understand why, despite so much information, the Israelites did not greet Him or receive Him as the heavenly Envoy. Jesus came as the righteous Branch of David’s lineage to do what was written about Him. If you look at the Bible, it speaks about all of us and the mission we must carry out here to glorify the Most High.

Jesus is called in the Scriptures as King of kings (1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 17:14). The text of Revelation 5:9, 10 states that we were made by Him for our God, as kings and priests. Just as Christ worked with the power that was given Him over the circumstances of life, we must also do that. The Christian who does not use this authority against everything bad that occurs to him does not honor the One who made him king. Therefore, he will answer on the big Day for not honoring his call! Stay alert!

In addition to reigning in the realm of faith, God expects His children to prosper, being more than sufficient to honor their commitments and help divine work in abundance. We must seek what we have been promised, to provide the Lord’s harvest with the necessary resources. This great task needs to be accomplished, because the lost have the right to hear about the complete salvation accomplished by Jesus on the cross.

The judgment performed by the Son of God at His death is the most spectacular feat after creation, without which we would be condemned forever. The Christian who does not obey Christ’s command to go out into the world and preach the Gospel to every creature is culprit of eternal judgment, because he denies the sinner the right to know that they can be saved if they believe in Christ. Mercy!

Something to be done continually is to practice righteousness against any temptation, sin, or suffering that comes against us or another person. We were made kings by Jesus to do justice for those attacked by the devil. The example set by the Lord was to walk everywhere, doing good and freeing the oppressed. This is a mission and not an option!

The message of the verse was that the time of Christ’s life was coming, and it has come! Now, the Savior is coming back, and will come back to get us out of this wicked world. David’s descendant came and did what was necessary. Now, with wisdom, we will carry out a good reign here until the Day when we will answer for what we have done with the talents entrusted to us. May we be found worthy!
