The flood will never happen again. However, in some parts of the world, because of heavy rain, there will be flooding of rivers and lakes, causing a lot of panic. In several parts of the world, signs are announcing the second coming of Christ. But it is best if we’re not alarmed by them nor try to avoid them, for Jesus said: Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away (Mark 13:30,31).
The Bible’s guidance should be taken as absolute truth. The divine Word has never failed and never will. Some of the Lord’s declarations will be fulfilled under certain conditions. He affirmed that if we believe, we will see the glory of God (John 11:40); however, the opposite is also true. Those who examine Scriptures and do their part will be rewarded. Nothing is impossible to those who believe!
In order to receive confirmation from heaven and be blessed, people must believe in what they pray for. When the Master met the Canaanite woman, whose daughter was demon-possessed, He demonstrated His immense wisdom. Jesus caused that woman’s faith to increase and because of what she said, the demons left her daughter. Learning from the Son of God increases our faith and teaches the right way to put it into action. The Lord is good!
One of the boundaries God sets is that we would be honest in everything we do in life; but we don’t obey Him. Even the intention of our heart determines if we will receive a blessing or not. We can’t be people who want to take advantage in everything. If your heart is moved by evil feelings or if you live by the flesh, your prayers won’t be responded. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup (1 Corinthians 11:28).
We can never run from what the Lord determines. Even in “friendly talks”, we should always have a pure purpose; that way, the Father will listen to our requests. Martha was upset because her sister had left her serving by herself; so she asked Jesus to tell Mary to help her. Jesus exhorted Martha to imitate her sister, saying Mary had chosen the best part (Luke 10:38-42). Christ is our Master!
Jesus’ teachings show us that in the little things, in the things we don’t always pay attention to, is the secret to receiving His blessings. He always said the truth in a simple way, showing that human wisdom is nothing compared to when we act according to His Word. “Learn from me”, He said (Matthew 11:29).
If you desire to be successful, you should guide your actions according to the Scriptures. Jesus gave us the example so we would proceed like He did (John 13:15). Check if your motivation is legitimate, when you pray for what is written to be fulfilled. The change should happen in us, because the Lord who rewards doesn’t change (Malachi 3:6). Amen!
In Christ, with love,
Dr. Soares
Oh God! It is great to learn from You! You make our requests to come to pass. Through Your teachings, we understand Your boundaries; and by knowing You will never change, we are certain that Your Word will never fail!
We ask for Your help. Without Your direction, we will suffer great losses. We must pray as Jesus prayed, believe as He believed and act in the same way as Him. That way, we will live according to Your heart!
We don’t know if Martha got the message, but we also don’t know if she didn’t accept what Jesus said. We are grateful for the patience You demonstrate to us when we lack understanding.
