And he said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.”

Jonas 1:12

The story of Jonah is fraught with lessons that teach us to act prudently and not to disobey the Lord’s orders. That prophet fled to save his life for he thought God was sending him to be destroyed by the barbarian Assyrians. However, it was the opposite: the Almighty wanted to save those people, and only Jonas had been prepared for such a mission. You might be making the same mistake today.

In some of his books, Kenneth E. Hagin says that there is God’s perfect will and God’s permissive will. In His perfect will, God has commitment with man; in the permissive one, man bears the consequences of his rebellion. The enemy does not care if you are still in church. Actually, he does not want you to be faithful to the mission the Lord gave you. To this end, the evil one will show you a thousand reasons to take you out of the Almighty’s hands. So, never depart from your call.

If one of the partners of a firm is called by God, such an institution may suffer by the actions of that person. So, it is best never to associate with someone who was commissioned and anointed by the Father to preach the Good Word. Those who flee from the Creator do not succeed, and those who give them shelter or company, albeit unknowingly, pay too high a price. If Jonah had not been thrown into the sea, those lives would have been lost. This is very serious!

The rebellion of that prophet caused many wrong things to happen to those around him. A good example is what happened to the ones who joined Korah, Dathan and Abiram in their revolt against Moses, the chosen of the Lord: they perished with the rebels (Numbers 16:1-35). Today, something similar has occurred with many who joined people who oppose the divine decisions. Watch out! When a prophet is not in his appropriate place he is a danger to those around him.

When there is rebellion in the church, lots of bad things take place, even divorces. With separation, the couples’ children may follow the path of evil and then the father or mother thinks that it all took place because of him or her. How big a price will they have to pay on the Day of Reckon!  No matter how strong your friendship to someone might be you should love God more than that person. Besides, the fate of those who band with the divorcee is tragic because they will incur in the same sin committed by the rebel.

Those who sanctify themselves to fulfill the divine plan are always blessings to the ones who heed them. Because they truly live God’s perfect will, they pray for the congregation, and the Lord blesses them. However, when the leadership is in sin, the whole congregation suffers. Therefore, sanctify yourself and be obedient to the heavenly Father.

In Christ with love,

R. R. Soares
