27/01/2020 - THE EARTH SWALLOWED THE ENVIOUS

The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan, And covered the faction of Abiram. Psalm 106:17

Even though they knew all about Moses´ life, which was taken from the waters, and seeing that God spoke to him face to face, there were three Israelites who tried to forcibly remove him from the mission received from Heaven, so that they would take his place. These fools thought only of themselves. If their plan had worked, the Israelites would no longer be led by the Lord and would not reach Canaan.

To this day, the spirit of jealousy takes control of many weaklings, who let themselves be carried away by their daydreams. They give in to this evil feeling, even though the Holy Spirit shows them the mistake in which they are getting involved. Many do not repent and are responsible for a great damage to the divine work. He who seeks his own interest will not remain unpunished, which is eternal, for rising up against true wisdom.

Envy began in the heart of Korah, son of Levi, whose tribe had been chosen to be run the ministry of the Tabernacle of God and be present in the congregation to minister to the Lord. They still wanted the priesthood (Numbers 16:10). Envy has a twin sister called greed. Almost always, both are next to each other. I have seen something like this happen in many churches, which were later completely destroyed. Pity!

The envious man is as if hypnotized, for he cannot see his error, and increasingly shuts himself to the voice of the Holy Spirit, who comes to convince him of sin, justice, and judgment (John 16: 8). That person’s fate is disastrous. When God’s work is done in the power of the flesh, then harm is certain, but infinitely less than the price that the foolish who will do it in the presence of the Lord, with His divine direction, but at the same time obeying the orders and suggestions from the enemy. Mercy!

Korah convinced two more brainless men: Dathan and Abiram. These were from the tribe of Reuben, who did not obtain the blessing for sleeping with Jacob’s concubine(Genesis 35:22). Because of his sin, he no longer was the most excellent, because he defiled his father’s bed. Just because his companions were from this tribe, their intent was evil.

Korah’s revolt must have been dwelling in his heart for a long time. When Moses, by God’s command, commanded to stone a man who gathered firewood on the Sabbath (Numbers 15: 32-35), the envious demon made Korah declare war on the man of God.  Their rebellion speech was based on the fact that they thought the whole congregation was holy, and they were all holy, so they asked Moses why he and Aaron were above them.

God says that he who does this seeks his own desire, for he rages himself against all wise judgment (Proverbs 18:1). Those three men managed to attract to them 250 elders of the congregation, men with a name. But guilt fell upon them (Luke 17: 1), because they would not listen to Moses, persisting in their error. That is why the earth opened and swallowed up the rebels, and the fire of the Lord killed the other 250.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

Father, it is sad to find people without God´s judgment formed in them. Thus, they disrespect the Scriptures, divide Your work, and bring damnation upon themselves and those who join them.

Deliver us from envy; thus no one will have the courage to stand against Your wisdom in our midst. It is unfortunate to know that the person who had fellowship and friendship with us, serving You as one soul, departed from Your plans.

Give us a true fellowship! What should be of most interest to us is to do Your work and bear the good testimony. Then, millions of people who are striding to perdition will turn and head towards Your Kingdom, which will not can be divided! Amen!
