Why did you flee away secretly, and steal away from me, and not tell me; for I might have sent you away with joy and songs, with timbrel and harp?  Genesis 31:27

One can’t believe in the wicked who only seek their self- interest to the extent of even harming a relative.  The words of those who do not serve God have snake poison because they are not dependable and what they affirm to be the truth often is sheer madness or bold lie.  It is not good to have anyone like this as a boss, associate or even as a friend.  The Christians are innocent – as the Lord’s sheep – and do not consider the danger.

God spoke to Jacob and said it was time to return to Canaan – his land – because there was the promised that he would inherit the land according to the covenant vowed by the Most High to Abraham and reconfirmed to Isaac.  When God tells you something, you can be 100% sure that this is the best for your life. Those who doubt or question if they should obey the Lord or not, do not believe in Him.  However, he only pronounces the Truth.

Jacob’s season of learning was long and arduous and only God knows why this had to be so.  But, Isaac’s son never turned against divine direction because he knew he could trust the Creator.  There is not one servant of the Most High that did not go through great battles to reach the positions that were obtained. Sometimes, for no reason at all even the closest friends, lift their heels and turn them against the sons of God.

The Most High was always with Jacob to help him and giving him the necessary support.  Besides, God also noticed and He realized how Laban was always taking advantage of Jacob’s work.  The Lord’s school is very important because in no time His disciple will make himself a name among people.  Certainly, not only Jacob was being taught and learning from these experiences, but also his sons who would later on be used, learned from their father.

Had Jacob not taken his wives and children and led them down the road to Canaan, his father-in-law, Laban, who had no scruples or morals and was even an idol worshipper, would not have let them leave.  When God gives his orders, those that are sensible and intelligent obey what He says.  Those who hesitate in their obedience or simply refuse to obey what they are ordered to do, will later, when suffering the consequences, not be able to blame the Almighty or anyone else!

The ways taught us by the Lord are the best and the most appropriate because they prepare us for the hardships and tribulations during our sojourn in this world.  Do not step back or withdraw from any of the Almighty God’s lessons.  In the end you will find how useful each one is.  In this world we will have problems and trials but like Jesus overcame, so will we (John 16:33)!  Therefore, do not be dismayed!

Jacob knew who Laban was and what he was capable of doing. Besides, this man only did not go against Jacob’s life because he was admonished by the Omnipotent.  God intervened appearing to Him in a dream and telling Laban not to harm Jacob, his son and servant. (Genesis 31:24)  Whenever you are being persecuted you can count on the Father’s help which will never fail. Amen?
