“Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness,” (Titus 1: 1)
Paul called himself “servant of God” and “apostle of Jesus Christ”. He states that the faith of the chosen ones and the knowledge of Truth made him as such. Faith and knowledge operate through piety. What’s your calling? Paul was recruited to promote faith. His duty was also to promote the full acknowledgement of Truth. That’s the reason why piety is so important!
How good it is to be certain that we’re really a servant of God; that’s what it’s about being a Christian. We were bought for a good price and we were made servants of God: those who have been called to do the divine will and to respond to the desires and to abide by the commandments of the Lord. There’s no greater honour than that one. Paul even called himself apostle of Jesus Christ. He knew that the Lord had commissioned him to found and to keep churches wherever he was sent. Everybody in the family of God has got a duty; the Lord makes sure none of His children hangs around with nothing to do.
So, what’s your calling? Those who think there’s no ministry for them to practice are saying that they pay no notice to the Scriptures at all; Our Father shows us the task assigned by Him to us through reading the Bible and preaching the Word; so we’ll serve Him this way. Turn to God if you don’t know your mission yet. There will come a day we’ll be accounted for what we’ve done for the ministry that we’ve been assigned to practice – and also for what we’ve failed to do. Poor of those who will be found disapproved!
The Brazilian reviewed and updated version of the Bible translates the verse above saying that Paul had been called up to foster faith. That’s exactly what we’ve been called to do. Regardless of the position we have in the work of God, our duty is to foster faith among God’s chosen ones and also amongst the lost. Everybody needs to see that the faith the Lord has granted us is all we need
not only to overcome the crises that come to harm us but also to make the work of God evolve.
We must also do our best to make Truth prevail in the world; that’s part of our mission. God has never planned part of His family to attend church only on Sundays and to keep their arms crossed; yet, that does happen to some, unfortunately. We’ve got to foster the whole Truth – not only part of IT. It’s sad to see some brothers in Christ going through all kinds of suffering from the enemy and they don’t know what to do to dodge the evil arrows, for they lack knowledge.
One thing is for sure: the inflamed darts that the enemy throws at us can and must be exterminated by faith and through the whole knowledge of Truth – “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8: 32) Yet, those two amazing gifts are operated through piety and through the respect we pay to everything that belongs to God.
Pay due respect to the work of the Most High and you’ll never be ashamed. Never stop to seek faith and the complete knowledge of the Truth through which you’ll overcome any temptation.
In Christ, with love,
R. R. Soares
