13/10/2017 - THE HAILSTORM PLAGUE

for at this time I will send all My plagues to your very heart, and on your servants and on your people, that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth. Exodus 9:14

At every new plague the punishment was increasingly greater.  Although the Pharaoh seemed to recognize that it would be better to bow before the power of the only God, something in him would not allow him to make such a wise decision.  Since he would not approach the Source of all goodness, he was drawn closer and closer to the powers of evil and subsequent perdition. Moses and Aaron continued talking dauntlessly and fearlessly and no matter how insensitive the Almighty seemed, He knew what had to be done.  The Lord is good to all!

The works that the All-Powerful would carry out in that land would require the king’s heart to be broken in sorrow. This time, Moses explained that the punishment would be very great and all peoples would now know that there was no god like God the Almighty over all the Earth.  Instead of showing interest in knowing Him, the Pharaoh usually called his sorcerers and magicians to try and imitate or to undo what Moses was doing.  The country was growing poorer but they did not take this into consideration.

Moses had himself made very clear when he said that the Lord had already extended his hand over the king and all his subjects and declared their destruction.  However, God kept the king alive to demonstrate His power to him and certify that His Name be announced throughout the whole world.  Would it not have been much easier and better for the Pharaoh to acknowledge the one true God and His prophet and lead his people to worship the Lord?  But the Pharaoh did not and had no intention in his heart to do this.

The Pharaoh realized he would have to let the Israelites leave Egypt, but he stood up against them. He needed to get ready because the hailstorm plague would be totally devastating.  He was warned that no man or animal should be found unprotected in the fields because if they were they would be killed by fire which fell on the country, and that surely happened. One should never doubt what God speaks!

Moses warned that an intense hailstorm would come over all such as never seen before.  There would also be thunder and lightning which would seem like fire from the heavens.  This is in fact what really happened and killed all men, their animals, and vegetation that were in the open field.  Only the wheat and the barley were not affected because they were covered.  However, nothing at all happened in the land of Goshen.

All this was necessary so that at the right time the Hebrews would march to freedom and the Pharaoh would not give chase to kill them.  Those that heeded the divine warning were spared from the stones; some so large that they broke enormous trees and mixed with lightning consumed everything in flames of fire.  When Jesus comes again, God’s power will destroy the earth and the elements will fuse as they melt with the extreme heat. (2 Peter 3:12) Halleluiah!

The Pharaoh recognized his sin and prayed that that plague should cease but the truth is that later on he continued with his evil practices.  There are people who act just like him.  However, one day, all will come to an end and they will be gone to eternal perdition.
