And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, into the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. 1 Chronicles 29.8

We need to be like the authorities of Israel when it comes to building the House of God. When the collection was made of how much they could contribute to the construction materials, they gave the precious stones they possessed; thus the work could be completed. They were received as the most valuable revelations that would adorn the Lord’s temple. This was one of the most beautiful buildings of that time and the most important because it was the House of God.

It is bad when a person has no resources to give, much less the stones that grant the divine work the glory that will marvel those who hear about it. Just as the ministries are diverse, there is also a variety of offerings the Christians may give to assist the work of the Lord. Because of these enlightened brothers, wonderful songs are composed, with revealing lyrics inspired by the Holy Spirit. A good poetry, without human interference, is of great value! 

In relation to the House of the Lord, nothing is charged for the service provided, whether medical, legal or any other. When any Christian has the courage to charge for any work, he has already lost the reward to be given by the righteous Judge on the Last Day. For us who love God, the service we render for the sake of the Gospel could even be charged for, and we would lovingly and gladly pay whatever amount. Why not do something good for our Father?

What do you have that is special to share with the church? Why don’t Christians ever think of offering their gifts to the Lord’s work? Now, if God were to charge for blessings bestowed, we would not have the money to pay the bill. But there are those who dare charging for using a gift they have received freely, whether a natural one or one that came to them through belief in the Most High. Now, many people lose their reward while they are here, and will lose that which awaits them in heaven (Matthew 6.20).

The stones were precious, but they entrusted them to Jehiel the Gershonite. It should not be forgotten that the men instituted by God to receive the offerings must first be found faithful by the church leadership and the people who help them. Judas Iscariot, the treasurer appointed by the Lord Jesus as an apostle, sold himself to the devil for 30 pieces of silver (Matthew 26.14-16). The price of betrayal was a pittance, but the pain will be eternal in the lake of fire and brimstone!

Those who offered for the building of the temple handed over the donation to the treasurer of the work. This is how those who feel moved by the Lord of Heaven and Earth should proceed. He is in charge of His harvest, so it is impossible to fail to heed Him, unless you do not mind hurting Him. Once God has told you something, set out to accomplish it. It is good to attend to divine commands right away!

When God opens His mouth and speaks, He does not close it afterwards. As soon as you set out to carry out your calling, the Lord issues the decree of your reward. So prove that you love Him with all your heart, and in turn He will love you with all His heart by fulfilling the promises in your life. Our God is tremendous and powerful!
