Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord. 2 Kings 20.5

Apparently, there was nothing else he could do. God Himself had said through Isaiah that the king would not recover and, thus, he should set his house in order (v 1). Since his heart was bound to faith, Hezekiah understood this message this way: if his house – his heart – were in perfect condition, he would be heard. In a similar way, when you understand what God is saying and believe in it, He will pay attention to you, because he always listens to those He loves.

Isaiah was on his way out of the royal palace when he was summoned back to deliver the message of faith. This is the word we ought to announce to all the people (Mark 16.15). If this were done, nobody would lose their blessings. Keep your house in order and so, when you cry out, the Almighty will gladly work in your favor. This is the best time to seek and find the Almighty.

God honored Hezekiah for several reasons. One of them was because he occupied the position designated by the Lord: He was the chief of His people. If you have received a calling from the Most High, but you are not obeying it, you are falling short, therefore, He cannot answer you. Follow God’s commands and, when you need something, you will see that He will not be kept from answering you and helping you. He confirms the word of His servant (Isaiah 44.26).

Before saying what He would do, the Lord told Isaiah to say to the king that He was the God of David, the king’s forefather, whom Hezekiah held as an example. We must know him today as the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. As He has used Jesus in His days on earth, He also wants to use you. Therefore retain an unwavering faith and, in any situation, pray and cry out until He hears you.

The prayer and tears of Hezekiah went up to God’s presence. So will your words also go up. Jesus has guaranteed that everyone who asks receives (Matthew 7.8). Therefore do not accept any negative message, for one thing the Lord desires is to fulfill the number of your days (Exodus 23.26). This is the best time for you to pray and claim what you need, from healing to the solution of a tough situation.

The Lord promised he would heal the king. Would He say otherwise to you? Of course not, because he does not show partiality. In fact, Christ has already suffered our infirmities. Wrestle for your cause before God until you prevail, because it is His will to fill you to overflowing with blessings. He treats you the same way he treated the king of Judah.

Hezekiah heard that he would go up to the house of God on the third day. When you prevail in prayer, you too will hear the complete message from the Father. Healing and forgiveness belong to you, as do all the other blessings. Today is the day for you to get up and march steadily to take possession of all that is yours. Believe it, because the Lord is with you.

In Christ, with love,

Our God who listens! How good it is to know that You heard Hezekiah after you had pronounced that he would die. In his prayer, the king proved that he knew You and he knew how to make You hear his cry. Lord, teach us to do the prayer of faith.

That was another battle to be conquered by this intrepid chief of Your people. He was acting upon the mission with which You had entrusted him, getting rid of the works of idolatry and witchcraft in the land. Now, when all was lost, he knew how to talk and be heard by You.

How many of those who read this have an unfavorable diagnostic and have been inspired by the example of this brother, who did not accept defeat as the final word! Help us to grow in faith and pray to the point where you revert what is written about them. Yours be the glory!
