They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support. Psalm 18:18

There are days when everything seems to go wrong, but that does not mean you are far from God; after all, ordeals befall everybody. Sometimes we make the wrong decisions that drive us away from the Lord; on other occasions, the enemy’s attitudes lead us into believing that we have been forsaken by the Father and that there will be no help for us. But we should not forget that the Lord is faithful.

Furthermore, it is important to know that for those who live by faith in Jesus there is no such a thing as bad luck. God commands us to live by faith (II Corinthians 5:7) so that when trial comes we can show in whom we believe. Now, he who believes in the Lord never gets carried away by the devil’s lies; on the other hand, those who believe in the devil more than in the Almighty get easily despaired and call on all sides without getting any support.

The devil always takes advantage of the bad times to attack and many are defeated because they do not realize it was their lack of faith that prevented them from being blessed. Those who are established on the Rock never stop trusting in the Lord, even if everything seems to indicate that there is nothing else to do. They know that God is faithful and cannot deny Himself, even if we are faithless (II Timothy 2:13).

David always trusted that God was his support, so he was never confused. If you play around pretending to have faith, the time will come when the enemy will attack you and then, without trust in the Lord, you may even cry out but will not be helped. The door always opens to anyone who has the key and uses it and not to those who stay outside crying like a desperate.

Bear in mind that David fought against his enemies, just as you have to fight against the forces of darkness when they come to attack you. His adversaries were men who symbolized the powers of evil that have been coming at us. Just as God has sustained the psalmist against those who rose up against him, we will also be protected by Him; however, to this end, we will have to fight the battles with confidence.

If you do not fight, the Lord will not sustain you. Therefore, once you set out to fight, do it with confidence in the fact that God will not let you fall into the snares of the evil one. The Lord will always give strength to His people (Psalm 29:11). So do not fear or be intimidated: when you are attacked, go into war for the Almighty is your support.

The truth is that even if hell should rise against you, God will sustain you and strengthen you for His name to be glorified.

In Christ with Love,
