I remember Your name in the night, O LORD, and I keep Your law. (Psalm 119:55)

There are times in our lives when we do not receive revelations from God, our prayers are not answered and everything becomes difficult. This is what the Word calls "being in the night." At this time, it is best to remember the Lord’s name and keep His law.

The Name of Jesus is the greatest authority both in heaven and on earth, and before Him every knee shall bow (Romans 14:11, Philippians 2:9-11). No force resists the reference to the Savior’s name when pronounced with faith. In Him, we enter the divine presence and tell him of our needs. The Name of Jesus brings comfort; it is our refuge and it is available to anyone who wants to rid themselves of the attacks from hell.

The devil works "in the night" because where there is light he cannot fulfill his intentions. Whoever is being tormented by the powers of hell should make a self-analysis to try and do away with whatever has kept the light from shining in his life. If you cannot figure out why, do not give up: pray and God will show you. A curse without cause shall not alight (Proverbs 26:2), and the foxes have holes where they can hide (Matthew 8:20, Luke 9:58).

Remembering the Name of the Lord is good for us. Remembering how our brethren in the past used this name and, through it, defeated the enemy forces brings self-assurance, cheers us up and empowers us to fight the enemy and win. When we meditate on what Jesus’ name means to us, on the power we have through it and what we are able to accomplish in it, a fire burns in our hearts and then we feel strong and excited. Once we are revived in faith, we can fight and win all battles.

The psalmist completed the advice by stating that he had kept God’s law. Nothing will work in the realm of faith if we do not act according to what the law of the Lord prescribes, because the Most High operates only through His Word. If the Word condemns something, we will never succeed if we disregard the command. Therefore, we must do only what the Word claims to be God\’s will. Failure to meet the guidelines provided by the Heavens is completely wrong because the Lord will never operate in a person\’s life if His Word is being neglected.

King David had the following experience: by failing to confess his sins, even his bones aged while he moaned all day long (Psalm 32:3). However, if we make an error, we should not dwell on the problem and hide our mistakes. We must find the person who we have offended and be honest with him/her. He who does that wholeheartedly does not care about the price to be paid because he will make amends with the Lord afterwards. It is no use remembering the name of the Father if we do not come to terms with whom we have wronged. We must keep God’s law!

In Christ with love,
