People were drawn to Jesus because of His anointing and because He was the Son of God. People came from everywhere; even foreigners who worshipped what they didn’t know, on seeing the Master, soon converted and followed Him. This phenomenon occurs where the Gospel is preached even today, because the anointing of the New Covenant is the same as the anointing that rested on the Messiah, although we are imperfect. The Lord does the work!
The Redeemer knew that every person who came to Him was led to Him by the Father, and He Himself said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day” (John 6:44). Jesus used the power given to Him in those who were led to Him by the Father and blessed them, provided that they believed that He could do those things (Matthew 9:27-30). Christ’s method of operation is the same today (Matthew 9:6).
If we observe well, we will see that among those whom Christ chose as apostles there was not one who sought Him. In fact, the Father was leading them. They did not go to Jesus out of necessity or interest, but according to heavenly guidance: Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles (Luke 6:12,13).
When Jesus said that someone would be part of His group of disciples, the choice was not random, but followed the heavenly Father´s guidance. This was so serious that the Master spent the night in prayer. Not one of them was lost, except the son of perdition: While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. (John 17:12).
The prophet Samuel almost failed when he saw Eliab, the firstborn son of Jesse. However, the Lord helped him, saying: But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7). Without divine assistance, we will make bigger mistakes!
We have to watch over the work, so it is better to devote some of the time to prayer than to work excessively and choose badly. We cannot go where God has disallowed us nor choose those whom He has not given us. It is necessary to live at His feet, so that the devil will not interfere in our mission. A person not sent by the Lord will cause much harm to the divine work.
It is wrong to make someone want to join the ministry by showing him advantages that do not exist in the Word. By doing so, you will be forming a lousy minister of the Gospel. Those called have to be tried, and if they prove to be faithful, they can be used. This happened to Elisha before Elijah was taken up to Heaven. Elisha did not take his eyes off the prophet, and when he took his cloak, everyone recognized him as the successor of his master (2 Kings 2:13-15). Never interfere with God’s action!

Faithful Father! Our responsibility is greater than we thought. Therefore, we must live at Your feet and forever walk in Your ways. With fear and trembling we will serve You during our earthly journey!
Your advices are so precious! But our decisions can get in the way of Your plan! We don't want to harm Your Kingdom, but cooperate in the way You are leading. Let our eyes see only what You show us. We beg for help!
From the human aspect, the word that the would-be disciple received was strong, leaving him without action. If he accepted what You said, his relatives would not forgive him, and if he did not agree, he would never be Your disciple. God, enable us to obey and to love You!
