“Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.” (Psalm 46:2-3)

Because the Holy Spirit is the Author of the Scriptures, what this psalm tells us must be regarded as a commandment. Regardless of what is going on around you, do not be afraid. God is fully committed with those that truly and resolutely trust in Him. The Lord is in command of everything, He reigns over all of His creations and He has power to intervene wherever and whenever He wishes. All we have to do is simply put our faith in His Word with no doubting (James 1:6), even if circumstances seem adverse.

The secret is to fear nothing at all. When we have this kind of attitude we show that we fully trust our Father. There is nothing sadder than having no faith in our Creator. Some people defend the idea that we have to believe in something no matter what, but that is condemned by the Word of God because we must only believe in what the Lord declares. And though it may not seem the appropriate thing to do when we’re in the midst of a catastrophe or ordeal, we must remain steadfast in our faith in God.

The enemy will endeavor to make us lose our focus. The devil makes bad things look even uglier than they are, more frightening than what our eyes can see. Yet, everyone that wants to escape from the traps set up by the devil should turn their eyes away from those things and look to Jesus instead, the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

It is a matter of trusting the Most High; the One who promised never to abandon us (Joshua 1:5). So, the right thing to do is to never get those words out of your heart. Even if we have to go through the furnace heated seven times more than usual (Daniel 3:19) or to go inside a den of starving lions (Daniel 6: 16), the Lord will be there with us. Has anything been bothering you? Does it look as if the situation you are going through is out of control? Believe in His promises because the Almighty is with you.

Those who trust God do not fear opposing circumstances. Just like the psalmist stated, “though the Earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; the waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains are shaken”, keep on trusting Him. The strongest foundation may be shaken, but your faith must be firm in the Eternal Rock.

Do not think those who were victorious in the past were special people. They did not receive a better treatment from the Lord. The difference is that they sought the Most High with faith and did not get desperate, but trusted Him and put the power of God to work in their favor. My brethren, do the same! Be daring enough not to shake before the threats of the enemy. Ordain the fulfilment of those words that were written to benefit you. Give the command and stand firm because as you believe in the Word of God He will be with you.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
