28/10/2015 - THE POSTURE OF A MAN OF GOD

Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it.” Deuteronomy 31.7

When Moses heard from the Lord that he would not enter in Canaan, he showed that he was serving God’s work, and not his own. It is important to be a servant, obeying the Father’s instructions. Even if the order from Heaven is against you, causing you loss, never discard it. The Most High knows how to prepare those He will use in the near future. His directions are made for our formation.

In those days, for the good of His work, the Creator chose Joshua, and not Gershom and Eliezer, sons of Moses. How good it would be if all the leaders let the Lord make the choice! Even if a person starts a mission and believes that his effort made it grow, the truth is that God has been merciful towards him, using his life.

Moses showed that he was not resentful, and before all of Israel, transmitted the Most High’s counsel to someone who would succeed him. However, if he had not done so, he would have displeased God. In the divine work, we are mere instruments of the Almighty, and once our mission is ended, we must give Him the glory that He deserves for His generosity and love.

Joshua was exhorted to be strong and of good courage. This is an admonition that serves for us all. In the task that God has given you, you will do your duty if you take it seriously, putting your effort, and living in a holy way. Those who do not care about their testimony and are driven by the enemy’s lies will one day be before the white throne, and then, they will find no excuses for their bad attitudes.

Joshua heard from his leader that the people would enter in the land of delight in order to fulfill the Lord’s promise. Every pastor should be careful with this fact, for what God determined for His Church includes the flock that is entrusted to each of them. The Most High signs a decree when He calls us to fulfill His work. Therefore, never accept that in your congregation, members should be excluded. They should be treated and recovered with love.

The descendent of Levi, son of Amram and Jochebed (Num 26.5), parents who did not fear Pharaoh and hid their child for three months, showed himself faithful to He who called him to lead the people. When Moses passed his role to Joshua, he affirmed that his successor would make the Israelites inherit the Promised Land. What a great example of resignation he gave us! The work belongs to the Lord, and should only be directed by Him.

Joshua accepted the responsibility and led Israel to enter in Canaan. Accept and assume the ministry that has been offered to you, because in order to be fulfilled, it is necessary to obey the calling from High. Say “yes” to the Lord.

In Christ, with love,

God, Lord of the work! May we be like Moses. When you told him that he would not enter in the Promised Land, Your servant was faithful to Your calling, and therefore, he prepared Joshua with love, so that Your flock would not be harmed.

The choice was Yours, and Moses never contested it, advocating for his children or for some other person. He transmitted Your counsel to Joshua. This leads us to ask You that we may never hinder the fulfillment of Your will. Thank You that we are servants.

Help us to be strong and of good courage, for we want to fulfill the oath that You have done in our favor. We have heard from Jesus that perseverance is necessary in order for us to be saved. May the aim of our lives be to obey You, because then, we will please You.
