21/10/2015 - The power of sin

Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is favor.  Proverbs 14.9

Scripture says that those who do not care about sinning and, thus, do not keep God’s precepts, are fools. This has nothing to do with religious precepts, but with the Word of God. When a person rebels against the Lord’s precepts he is subject to the spirit of foolishness and, because of that, is under the control of the devil. There is nothing worse than shutting yourself from the direction given by the Holy Spirit. Fools take pleasure in doing wrong.

Committing a sin is like assuming the character and personality of the devil. Doing this is proof that the person has no respect for the Lord. This person is called a fool for not considering the consequences of his or her attitudes. And so, instead of having the Almighty as his God, he puts himself under the authority of the evil one, being guided by the one whose heart is evil and does no good even to those who serve him. It is definitely a bad call to trade good for evil.

When one gives in to temptation, he is possessed by a spirit of insanity. From that moment on the enemy’s nature will lead him to go through terrible situations (Psalm 42.7) and, if unrepentant, his desires will be increasingly sinful. The evil one will not leave him alone and, even though he struggles to break free from his reign, this will only be possible with God’s help. Those who love evil are afflicted by that same evil.

Sin has a salary for those who indulge in it. The Bible calls this reward death – being far from God (Romans 6.23). The person who indulges in sin notices that no good is at work in his life, even if they struggle with all their might to make it better. If you concede to temptations and do not return to God, you will daily move further away from happiness. The day will come, then, when you will no longer remember the Most High and, if you remain this way, you will be condemned to eternal suffering.

He who commits sin and does not confess it will be punished, because the Scriptures declare that the sin will find the person who indulged in it, even if the person thinks that their sin will never be discovered. When God sends the iniquity to find its author, nothing will be hidden and, in that moment, there will be no compassion, mercy, forgiveness or salvation for the unrepentant sinner. Does it pay off to remain in sin?

If you give in to temptation you will become a servant of the demon that tempted you and, from that moment on, you will bear the mark of that “lord” in your personality. This is the worst that can happen, because, besides being away from the Father, your new lord will rule over your will and your desires. Consequently, you will be acquainted with suffering.

The righteous do not stray from what the Word teaches and, they naturally and constantly heed the instructions of the Almighty. It is so important to watch and pray not to accept what Satan offers us (Matthew 26.41), for he wants to have you in his hands. Flee from the enemy’s lies and remain as a servant of righteousness. Never play with your eternal happiness.

In Christ, with love,

Holy God! It is so important that we do not let ourselves to be led by temptations nor to surrender to the enemy. We do not want to be servants of an evil-hearted lord who wants to put its claws on us. Have mercy! Our desire is to belong only to You.

If we remain in the Way, we will never be subject to the enemy and we will enjoy Your goodness at all times. Finally, when Jesus returns, we will go up to meet our King and live with Him forever.

Thank you for loving us and for giving us power to fulfill Your will. We reject all that the devil is offering us and we will not give ourselves to sin. Father! We anxiously wait for the revelation of Your Word, our daily bread.
