“So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.” (Matthew 9. 19)

When Jesus answered to a request made by Jairus – one of the rulers of that synagogue – He taught us we must be always ready to respond the requests made to us. Jairus wasn’t a follower of the Master, but due to a serious occurrence in his household, he went up to the Lord to ask for His intervention. Our Saviour didn’t debate whether that man believed in Him or not because when Jairus turned to Him, he was already showing his faith in Him. Besides, our Master didn’t pry into his past life for when someone seeks God, He draws them near Him and forgives them provided they believe in Him.

That desperate father asked for his daughter who was on the brink of death. The Lord left everything He was doing right away and went along with him. That readiness of our Savior is something very significant: We mustn’t deny assistance to anyone who turns to us. We are never so busy that we cannot help someone or tell them that it’s too late or that we will talk to them later. Since Jesus was guided by the Holy Spirit, He felt in His heart that that was the time so He went along with that father in distress.

What a beautiful journey we’ll embark on with those who come to us for help! But, unlike our Lord, we oftentimes have something more important to do which won’t give our Father the true glory or that will not produce a miracle – a miracle that would not only save a life or a family but would also make all those that listen to Jesus give Him glory. We should turn our lives and our time into something that would praise the Lord all the time. We can be used by the Holy Spirit if only we allow it.

God has a plan for mankind. We’ve been chosen to make it work. If we’re obedient, our Father will use us for His glory. We’ll see so many blessings that, if unveiled beforehand, nobody would believe they would happen. In His wisdom, the same God who has trained me to be here writing to you has a lot of good plans prepared for you to fulfill; plans which will make you feel good and that will give you a lot of profit for eternity. So, don’t fail to carry out what you’ve been commissioned to do by Him. The Most High’s plans for your life are tremendous and wonderful!

Jesus stated: “And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes (Luke 12:47). I’m not interested in punishment; instead, I’m interested in rewards, in the divine recompense. On that day I want to stand up before the Lord and, even knowing that I did only what I was told – and maybe not as perfectly as I should’ve done it – I know God will look at me in the eyes and tell me that because I was faithful over a few things, He’ll make me ruler over many things. So, I can enter into the joy of my Lord (Matthew 25:21). Be always ready to serve God for your own good and happiness.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
