19/02/2013 - THE REWARD FOR THOSE WHO DEDICATE THEMSELVES TO THE LORD

He will dwell on high; his place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; bread will be given him, his water will be sure.

Isaiah 33:16

Those who dedicate themselves to the Lord and do His will enjoy a spiritual position of great prominence; after all, they will dwell on God’s heights, where evil will never touch them. On the other hand, those who get carried away by the passions of the flesh are unaware of the evil they inflict upon themselves because the devil will most definitely reach them with his deadly darts.

Those who are steadfast in faith and do not make any agreements with Satan, thus pleasing the Lord, will never be reached by the forces of evil. The devil may tempt them, but for fear of the Almighty they will always say “no” to the enemy’s proposals. We see, however, that just like Achan (Joshua 7:24-26), some among the people of God will have a bitter end for not respecting the faithful.

When the apostle Peter understood that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God, the Lord told him it wasn’t flesh and blood that had revealed it to him, but the Father (Matthew 16:17). The Messiah also said that on that rock – the revelation – His Church would be built. Every promise contained in the Word is a rock that one receives and within it there are unattainable and indestructible fortresses. Therefore, make sure you dwell in these fortresses and the enemy shall not prevail against you in any way.

Your place of refuge and safety are the revelations contained in the divine Scriptures. Once you’re under this shelter you will not be shaken, even if a thousand fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand (Psalm 91:7). Do not despise God’s revelation; if you love your life, be sure to always follow the directions from on High, otherwise the devil will get a hold on you and you will have many problems. Bear in mind that there is still time to start living with the Almighty.

The Creator provides for His children so that they do not lack any strength to fight the wars that will be waged. However, in order for the supply not to run out, we ought to truly serve the Lord. Those who get carried away by the temptations and fall in the traps of the devil lead a life of lies and will never be fed with the bread that gives us strength to wins the battles (John 6:35).

Oftentimes we come across people who, in a dirty and treacherous way, cause harm to us. When this happens, our soul grieves and our thoughts are troubled; we may even be filled with feelings of revenge and hatred. However, for us to get rid of all these evils, we must hold fast to the divine revelations, which are as clean as the waters that cleanse us and reassure us.

In Christ with love,

R. R. Soares
