18/02/2021 - THE SAME MIND IN THE LORD

I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. Philippians 4:2

In order for the gospel to be preached around the world and accepted by those who are lost, it is necessary that the saved ones have the same mind that was also in Christ. Even though He has a divine character, Christ doesn’t impose His will by force, but through our prayers and according to Scriptures. And it can’t be any different, except if we doubt that the purpose of the Lord is always the best for the Church and for each one of us.

The Word says that Jesus, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God (Philippians 2:6). He castoff His celestial prerogatives and came as a humble, helpless and innocent baby. He wasn’t influenced by one of His disciples, who, listening to what Jesus said about what would happen to His future, wanted to rebuke Him. Christ was firm with Peter, demonstrating who was behind those “advices”.

When we have the same mind in the Lord, we won’t add anything to what He says to us and we won’t remove anything either. We won’t give ears to opposite ideas, no matter whom they’re coming from, but even if they are judges acting in court. Everything that goes against biblical revelations is anathema. Stay vigilant and pray!

King Jehoshaphat faced great danger against the Ammonites, Moabites those from the mountain of Seir and others who came against him. Judging by the multitude and by the state of spirit with which they got together, these people would destroy Judah. The king got the people together to supplicate to the Lord Almighty so He would deliver them from those enemies. The Lord responded that the people should praise Him, and He would fight for them. The people’s unity with the word received from God guaranteed that victory.

Any general, even one from the smallest country in the world, would have laughed at the king of Judah’s orientation to his army. However, they got together based on what was ordered to them, and standing before the enemy, started to praise God. The result couldn’t be different, because when the Lord gives a direction, the work is done. As they praised, Ammonites, Moabites and other opponents began to destroy themselves.

No member of the church can have different revelations, because the Lord doesn’t change. When there is the same feeling between the leader and the congregation, the work of the Father advances, the holy people prosper and the supernatural operation of God occurs in each of the members. Holiness reigns in them and the Holy Spirit can guide them as God desires. The same feeling will unite us in one flock, guided by the same Shepherd.

Paul used the verb implore, because as a spiritual leader, he had taught them to be polite with one another. The apostle said we should not be a group of unsubordinated people. When the Commander of the work is reverenced by all, only good things happen. However, when there is rebellion, soon enough, “preachers” sent by the devil will try to lead us astray. We should submit to God, who wants to lead us in triumph. Afterall, He is the leader!

In Christ, with love,

Dr. Soares

Lord of the same mind! We have learned that Jesus, being in the form of God, didn’t impose His own will, but let You judge all things and decide what is good or not for us. Teach us to walk in obedience!

We surrender to Your direction, so we will never hinder Your beautiful work, doing what is best for the church and for ourselves in particular. May Your purpose be also ours, and may Your love be the moderator of our hearts. Help us to serve You!

Why would we collaborate with the evil one, bringing division to Your house, if You have declared that it is great when Your children live in unity? We do not aim to be anything or to conquer titles in Your house, except the title of servants. We will honor You!
