And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood. Luke 15:12

In the parable told by Jesus, it is clear that there is an evil desire in man. This leads him to separate himself from his family, completely breaking his ties with this heavenly institution. Such an attitude does not come from God, for, as the biblical passage shows, the prodigal son’s hidden desire was for the wrong things. No one can see the source of the desires that dominates him without comparing the motivation of their heart to the Creator’s Manual (Psalm19:12,13). Watch and pray!

The devil began to act early in the world. From the moment Adam and Eve disregarded the divine command – not to eat of the fruit of the tree of good and evil – the evil one entered human nature (Genesis 3). Cain was not pleased that Abel’s offer was accepted by the Lord and killed him. A demon took control of Cain, causing him to destroy his brother because he had pleased God (Genesis 4:3-8). All wrong practices come from the evil one!

Why does a married person cheat on their spouse, a partner steals from another, a father abuses his daughter or son, or a judge accepts a bribe, if he has an obligation to apply the law? We can formulate many questions in this direction, but the only logical answer is the one that points to the author of all transgressions: Satan. The lost man is without the Holy Spirit, unaware of the danger, and from one hour to the next, he can become a criminal (John 16:8-11; Roman 8.9). Mercy!

Satan filled David’s heart with greatness. Then, in his delirium, the king decided to verify how magnificent he was. Now, his importance in Israel came from the Lord, His Shepherd, and not from the power he obtained with divine help. David ignored the warnings of his aides, who sensed that this idea had an evil influence. Despite the warnings, the king remained firm in his intention and paid dearly for it (1 Chronicles 21:1-8).

Nothing is more tragic than to see a pastor divide a congregation, taking some of the members and causing others to go astray. He is strictly obeying the king of wickedness. So says the Word: A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment (Proverbs 18:1). God has never changed His method of acting, and the Scriptures have not lost their power to exhort.

Another sad fact is divorce for any reason whatsoever. In the beginning, it wasn´t this way; marital separation was only allowed in case of infidelity (Matthew 19:3-9). The book of Malachi gives the divine message: “For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one’s garment with violence,” says the Lord of hosts. “Therefore, take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.” (Malachi 2:16).

The younger son mentioned at the beginning of this message must have heard some sinners talking about the “freedom” of a certain place, but because he didn’t know that the devil reigned there, he asked his father for his share of the goods to which he was entitled. However, he noticed that this would be his downfall and he would be lost forever if he did not return home. One abyss calls another abyss (Psalm 42:7); therefore, flee from error even if it seems small.

In Christ, with love,

Patient God! Your heart aches when one of Your children is led astray by the devil and becomes separated. Others in the family - home or church - upon hearing of what has happened, may be influenced to do something similar or worse.

Why do couples break up when You have brought them together? Many think that they no longer need the One who reached out to them and formed them, but You have so much more to give them. Even though we are morally wounded, we must continue to serve You. Give us mercy!

Thank You for Your patience, compassion, and Your great love. Don't let the bad example lead us. We want to stay in the school of the Holy Spirit. The devil is not fit to be our master. We need You!
