“He Elder, To the elect lady and her children whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth, 2 because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever.” (II John 1:1, 2)
In the passage above in which the apostle John typifies the Elder of days – the elected Lady represents the Church of Jesus and we symbolize His children – we can see that the Lord really loves us and those who know the Truth must love the Church and His children as well.
We can learn good lessons that will help us in our faithful journey as we read that statement by the apostle John in which he personifies Jesus as the Elder of days according to the way Prophet Daniel depicted Him. One of them teaches us that the Lord addresses His Church as the elected Lady when writing to IT which is constituted of all people from all over the world who accepted Jesus as their Saviour. That demonstrates His care and tenderness towards His Bride.
Jesus states that once His church has been established the gates of hell won’t prevail against IT (Matthew 16:18). So, those brothers who live in places with hard access mustn’t lose heart whenever they’re being persecuted because the House of the Lord will resist any gates from hell, however strong they might be because IT was edified exactly where the Lord decided IT to be. So, the children of the Lady by excellence – the members of the Church of Christ – mustn’t let anything or anybody to be debased from such a privileged stand.
We mustn’t forget the following: Jesus truly loves us. So, we won’t be forsaken whatever it happens. On the contrary, all the promises made by our Father to us, His children, will be fulfilled. He’ll teach us what to do whatever the circumstances; He’ll show us the way out for each crises and He Himself will intervene in our favour if necessary.
We must follow suit the way the Lord relates with His Church. It’s our duty to love IT and to do all our best to assist IT and to protect IT. Both the elected Lady and ITS children must be loved by all Christians. By the way, True Love is only found in the members of the Body of Christ. Well, it’s our responsibility to show that feeling by keeping all the commandments (John 14: 21). Once we feel it we can be of any assistance to anyone in need, but we mustn’t do that by ourselves; after all, the Most High will lead us to stretch out our hands to those who must be helped. Our Father has given us authority, however the Holy Spirit was appointed by Him to be responsible for the mission of guiding us in all the Truth (John 16: 13).
We Christians must be positive and confident because the love of The Truth – a tool we need to do the divine work – will never abandon us. So, my brother, obey our Father; never moan about anything or be impatient because God will always guide you to the place He wishes you to represent Him.
