“That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,” (Ephesians 3:16)

Paul’s prayer for the brethren in Ephesus demonstrates that he knew much more than we do about the importance of crying out for the riches of God’s glory. Those brethren would be strengthened by them. Those who receive today the same revelation Paul did in the past and pray to get that blessing will be more qualified to resist evil and to take possession of the riches already given to us in Christ.

God operates in the inner man, in the human spirit. Those who don’t have the power of the Lord in their inner being are weak, hesitating and they are unable to be delivered from the traps set by the enemy. However, such strengthening is done by the Spirit of God. The fact that the apostle got down on his knees and prayed for it to happen shows that it is not automatic and that it depends on someone’s crying out for it.

Everyone that’s strengthened by God’s power can stand up against any spiritual battles just as our brethren in the biblical times did. Their experiences are examples for us to never be defeated in any of our daily struggles. Our battles mustn’t be taken for granted: our Father had to allow what people call genocide to be carried out so that nobody will ever dare to play with spiritual fights.

What we must do is to pray! When we pray we take off faulty, filthy and inappropriate spiritual clothing. When our lives are on the altar of the Lord, we’ll be free from so many things we’d never imagined were hindering us to be blessed. We’ve been taught so many wrong lessons all those years; yet, we can learn how to discard all of them by being in communion with the Lord.

The Spirit of God had at least two purposes in mind when He told Paul to write down his prayer. First, the Ephesians had to know that the request had already been made and that they could believe that they’d be strengthened. Second, we too can cry out for that gift for us and for those who are dependent on our assistance so that they can carry on walking successfully on the path established by the Lord.

Don’t underestimate that extra assistance; it’s utterly significant. We fight with little strength without it. We can make stronger what we receive by hearing the Word of God when we say a sincere and determined prayer. So, why not go for that increase in power?

You’ll become more cheerful with your strong spirit; happier and more prepared to overcome everything. The Holy Spirit will strengthen you today. Believe it!

In Christ, with love,
