Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. John 5.18

Only the saved in Jesus and born again can hear the Lord. We should emphasize this fact more, for it is not enough to say that one must be saved, but rather reinforce that man ceases to be spiritually dead and be reconnected to the Most High. This subject is so important that Jesus warned that no one will enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born again (John 3.3).

The Jews in the days of Christ were furious to hear Him tell the truth about Who He was, claiming that the Most High was His Father; therefore, being His Son, He was also God. This is fully recorded in the Bible (Colossians 2.9). Jesus said that tradition has the power to invalidate the Word:  He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition (Mark 7.9). What a disastrous and harmful exchange they did!

Those religious people did not understand that God is composed of three distinct persons, but is one Lord: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This is clearly proven at Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River: And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon; and a voice came from heaven, which said, “You are my beloved Son, in you I am well pleased” (Luke 3.22). That was not a theatrical act!

The Jews inflated themselves to say that they were servants of the Most High, but because Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, they wanted to kill Him. What crime had the Master committed? What was that faith they were flaunting, trying to kill someone who spoke the truth? His works bore witness to Him, for if God healed and delivered people, answering His prayers, that was valid and true.

Blind faith leads people to fanaticism, making them capable of killing those who do not follow their religion. They do not care about this evil. Christ’s persecutors envied the treatment given to Him, because in their synagogues there was no healing of disease or deliverance from evil spirits. Jesus accomplished all these things, but they ignored such deeds. When someone believes that something is wrong, it is better to stay away from him. Examine the Word!

The Sabbath was sacred to the Israelites. The truth is that they did not understand the meaning of this day made for man to rest, and not for blind obedience. They didn’t see that because Joshua stopped the sun at Gibeon, and the moon in the Valley of Aijalon (Joshua 10:12-14), and Isaiah prayed for the shadow to turn back ten degrees (40 minutes) on Ahaz’s watch, a day is missing from the world’s calendar. The Jews rest on the day after the Sabbath and don’t realize it!

Individuals whose faith is mental cannot reason like people who live at the Lord’s feet. They don’t even know that they could act like gods: Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law: I said, you are gods? (John 10.34).
