Neither did they say, ‘Where is the Lord, who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and pits, through a land of drought and the shadow of death, through a land that no one crossed and where no one dwelt?’ Jeremiah 2.6

One of the Israelites’ gross mistakes was to see evil come into their nation and dominate them, without remembering the Lord, who had brought them out of the captivity of Egypt and could have put an end to their problems. Today, a large part of the evangelical leaders has acted this way when faced with the sinful behavior of the youth. Some, when commenting on the deviation of the youth, laugh and say they don’t know what to do. They need to remember the One who saved them!

No one accepted Jesus by chance, but as time went by, many did not realize this fact and where careless in the doctrine and zeal of God´s house (Psalm 69.9). We cannot close our eyes and consider the changes that have occurred as normal, because they are Satan’s tricks to lead as many Christians as possible to Hell. Seek the Deliverer!

The Most High declared that none of them cared to ask where the Lord who had brought them out of Egypt was. Well, He was where He has always been and always will be: on His throne. God is ready to deliver whoever allows the Holy Spirit to convict him of sin, righteousness and judgment. However, anyone who turns away from the Truth will dig his own death, both physical and spiritual – eternal separation from the Lord. “He who seeks finds,” said Jesus (Luke 11.10).

In addition to leading them out of Egypt, the Lord led them through the desert. In the same way, the Father wants to lead His people through the deserts of the world, where there are dangerous “beasts” as well as the sin that surrounds them so closely (Hebrews 12.1). To be guided by God is the assurance of victory in our life. Evaluate how you are walking in Christ. If you don’t feel Him anymore, or don’t receive the revelations of the Word, you are out of God’s guidance.

To guard the Israelites, God made them stay away from civilizations, probably to prevent them from walking with idolaters and being equally destroyed by the devil. Just look at the episode in which the Israelites were hanged, after participating in the orgies of the Moabites and worshiping the god Baal-Peor, the lord of the mountain (Numbers 25.1-9). Understand: it is not possible to play with sin and get away with it. Flee from it!

The difficult way in the desert, full of deserts and pits, dryness and the shadow of death – was the best for them. If they had been in a land where sinners roamed, with people without the fear of the Lord, they would have gone astray and would never have become the chosen people for the Savior to be born. God is wise!

It was necessary to send them to Babylon, lest a worse correction befall them. Cry out for your children, grandchildren and your home. Eternal damnation is real, and many who consider themselves saved may not go to live in God’s house. Be strong and endure to the end (Matthew 24.13). Watch and pray!
