For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

Titus 3: 3

It’s a good idea not to forget who we were before listening to The Word of God which has saved us and has taken us out of the empire of darkness because the devil will do all he can to make us go back to error. The Lord declares, through the prophet, that we were foolish as we could not see the truth and that we were sliding in the dark and that we used to live our lives according to the wish of the prince of the host of air. Yet, having achieved the divine mercy we have taken to enjoying Jesus (verses 4 to 6).

The spirit of disobedience was dwelling in us. Being disobedient we neither pleased The Lord nor could we be pleased by Him who – though being a merciful Father – couldn’t do anything for us. Then, one day The Light shined up on our journey and with His mighty hand He took us out of the empire of evil and conveyed us straight into The Kingdom of The Son of His love (Colossians 1: 13). Now we’re members of The Body of Christ and citizens of The Kingdom of Heavens.

When we were away from The Truth we could see no error in our wrongdoings. Yet, having achieved mercy now we have become a new creation (II Colossians 5: 17). Therefore, we are not to surrender to our ancient lord. He, being a liar (John 8: 44), will insist on inducing you into the belief that your future is next to him. Yet, those who are wise will not leave their position considering that, now, they’re redeemed in Christ.

Why is it that, very often, a child of God happens to go back to serving countless lusts and pleasures considering that they’re no longer incorporated in the empire of sin? The answer to that is that they tend to let themselves be induced by Satan’s lies. The devil, aiming at having them back in his hands, is even capable of making their wishes come true by giving them what they’re eager to achieve and then, once they’re in his clutches, he’ll cause them to go through the most awful trials.

The life we enjoyed before accepting The Lord Jesus as our Saviour was sheer suffering. At that point we were used to malice and envy but now, being a new creation, remade by and in Christ, there’s no reason whatsoever to wish back that very thing which caused us to be put to shame. We have a duty to behave as children of God, redeemed from all deceit.

In the past, from our appearance everybody could tell we were loathsome; yet, today we look like Jesus. God’s love is to be poured out from our eyes now. It’s our duty to cause those people who don’t know The Lord yet to see in us the image of Christ and, thus, they’ll also wish to conquer what we’ve conquered so far.

May the time hatred against each other was commonplace never come back! Nevertheless, with the assistance from The Heavens, let’s love our brothers and sisters and also the lost. When each one of us begins truly loving our brothers everybody else will see that we’re, in fact, children of The Most High. After all, we have already achieved the goodness of God.
