Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the Gentiles, to give thanks to Your Holy Name, to triumph in Your praise.

Psalm 106: 47

The best prayer is the one The Scripture calls the prayer of faith (James 5: 15) which is said based on the conviction granted by God through His Word. It must be said for us to be set free from any hellish assaults which can go from a mild pain to a massive oppression such as, for instance, the one which the Israelites faced in the biblical times. Very often they were taken into captivity by other people and went through all sorts of trials. Yet, when they called out to The Lord they experienced liberation.

The psalmist prayed: save us! In those two words all the blessings you might need are included: healing; prosperity; a solution for a marital or financial issue as well as any other one. Whenever you lack something you ought to pray to God by being specific concerning your needs just like the author of the psalm above did. He asked his people to be taken out of the oppression of the enemy and The Most High answered him.

Before praying you must remember that The Lord is The Only One who can really be called God. All the others who are also called gods and goddesses are nothing but man-made fabrications and a product of the devil as well. When someone turns to those so-called deities in prayer the same thing that took place to the prophets of Baal – they would cry out and cut themselves with knives and lances (I Kings 18: 28) – might happen to him or her but that was a quite pointless attitude; after all, the defeated deity never answered. Now, that never occurs when we turn to The Lord considering that He is actually God, the Almighty One.

The psalmist was specific: besides deliverance from captivity, he wanted the Almighty to congregate among the nations. You can and you must also be complete when requesting something to the Father. You don’t need to ask just for one blessing at a time, but you have to tell Him all your needs and cry out so He will answer you. Since He is the true God, He will not have a problem in solving all your requests.

The psalmist declared that the purpose of his prayer was for his people to be able to praise the holy Name of God. You have to do the same, as you go for the divine blessings. You ought to bear in mind all the time the possibility of your whole family to take part in the team of the worshipers of our Father. The Most High is constantly looking for people who will praise Him in Spirit and Truth (John 4: 23). That’s the reason why He’d be extremely happy to see all of your family members joining that team as well.

Praising God in Spirit and Truth doesn’t mean to spend the whole day with bootlicking words, sheer flattery, but it’s about living one’s life above all troubles, temptations and thus becoming conquerors in all senses. That’s the way The Lord will be adored and praised – praised by All of His works in favour of those who let themselves be taught and march towards success.

The psalmist made those petitions to The Most High in order for the Israelites to be glorified in the praise of God. The true praise – the one which is pleasant to The Lord – is about seeing His children receiving healing; liberation and all the other blessings which cost Jesus too high a price (Isaiah 53: 4 – 7). We’re saved to be filled up by the divine glory. Therefore, give The Lord our God this very thrill.

In Christ, with love,
