We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.
Psalm 20:5
In this passage, we see three important statements. The first is that we should rejoice in the Lord for the salvation He gives us. Now, there are two kinds of joy: one that comes from God and another that comes from man. The joy of the Lord is an extremely important divine gift for us who seek in the Most High the solution to our problems because it is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10b). Therefore it will never be revoked, and no one can take it away from us. On the other hand, the joy that comes from man is not intended for us to fulfill the divine commandment and neither does it show how to serve God, after all, such understanding comes to our hearts when we are visited by the heavenly Father.
To be endowed with the capacity to be victorious is not a difficult thing to attain: all we need to do is to understand what the Lord wants from us and what His ordinances are. The promise of Jesus, by the way, is meant for those who keep His commandments and practice them: Christ manifests Himself to them (John 14:21), visits their heart, and then soon afterwards joy floods their entire soul. In fact, salvation brings such bliss that it pervades our entire being – and this is the necessary preparation for the power of God to work in us and through us.
The second statement is that when the heart is glad we can, in the name of the Lord, set up banners – raise the flag and set out for the attack. Then, my brother, it does not matter the size or strength of the enemy, because you will receive the divine authority and be able to undo any evil work. Never run away from battles or complain about what the devil is trying to do with you. Rise up in Jesus\’ name and claim your rights, because in so doing you shall really come out victorious. Right now, keep on doing God\’s will and you will see that nothing can hold you down.
Is your heart glad already? So, set up your banners and, with confidence, demand all evil power to get out of your life. If Satan has
tempted you, get rid of temptation right now, using the power of Jesus\’ Name. If the evil one afflicts you with some kind of illness, do not delay! Take over your authority right now and send the disease away with determination because that\’s how the arrows shot by the enemy must be fought.
Finally, the last statement is that the Lord will fulfill the petitions we submit to Him provided that we set up the banner of faith joyfully! So try not to forget what the devil is doing in your life and do not lie saying you have not suffered, because this will make him even more eager to pursue you. If you raise the banner of war and set out to battle with firmness of purpose – confessing what the Word of God says, rather than saying that you are weak – you will be victorious!
