“The word of the LORD that came to Micah of Moresheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.” (Micah 1:1)
Not all those who let themselves be used by the Lord will deliver prophetic messages, but only those who receive that specific ministry will be able to be used for this purpose. Micah, for instance, spoke as a prophet about many future occurrences: he prophesied the captivity of the ten tribes of Israel and Judah, he gave an accurate report on the birth place of the Son of God, and he also stated that Samaria would be reduced to a pile of rubble. Besides, he admonished those who concocted evil plans and performed wrongdoings, and he also foresaw the calling of the Gentiles and showed what it takes to please the Most High.
Oftentimes, when the Lord speaks of something bad that is about to happen, He is not talking about what He had already determined to take place, but rather of what is inevitable. Unfortunately, many people pay no heed to the divine message and end up suffering – both those who are being warned and their families and, sometimes, their whole nation. Now he who listens to the servants of God and prays over what has been revealed may keep misfortunes from happening.
Micah was accurate in his forecast of the birth of the Son of God; he even told everyone the name of the town in which that wonderful event would take place.
My brethren: if our Father gives you a revelation, it will certainly be something of the utmost importance. So, don’t be hasty to say anything, but pray over what’s been revealed and then you can deliver the message you received with due biblical confirmation; the Lord will always confirm the word of His servant. Don’t add or take away anything from what God’s stating, and don’t call yourself a Prophet because that duty is for those who were summoned and prepared by the Most High to embrace such ministry.
In the Old Testament, a prophet could deliver, perhaps, a thousand prophecies, but he’d certainly die if only one of them weren’t fulfilled (Deuteronomy 18:20-22). But Micah, a servant of the Lord, didn’t hesitate to spread the news that the proud Samaria would become a pile of rocks, which actually occurred soon after his death. On top of that, he gave a warning to those who, by taking advantage of the power and authority they had, premeditated iniquity and concocted evil deeds. But God, who can see everything, will undoubtedly judge those who think they have a right to despoil their people, to take advantage of them and to deceive the ones who established them as authorities.
The Lord also revealed to the prophet the conversion of the Gentiles. Today we are about a billion converted “gentiles” – a blessing that confirms that prophecy as well as many others. Very soon our Father will wake up the spirit of people in entire nations and they will seek salvation. Beautiful will be the days mankind will live!
My brethren, anything men make up to please God is worthless. Some are instructed to give very expensive presents to the Lord and they do so because they wrongly think they’re making our Lord happy; yet, the Most High requires that we do only three things, according to Micah: act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with the Lord (Micah 6:8). Those are good things and they’re exactly what He expects from us.
In Christ, with love,
R. R. Soares
