25/10/2021 - THROW OUT THE OLD LEAVEN

Therefore, purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. 1 Corinthians 5.7

When the Most High finished making man from the dust of the earth, He put him through a strict “quality test” and saw that the being created in His image and likeness was good (Genesis 1.26-31). However, when sin entered into the world, the leaven that swelled the devil’s mind completely contaminated us (Genesis 3.1). Because of this, betrayals occur daily, everywhere, including in the work of God. With this swelling product, it is difficult for man not to fall into temptation!

The command is to get rid of the old leaven, both that which the devil has introduced into our lives and that which people insert into them, using vain philosophies. The result is that many will do anything to be liked – and this has happened even amongst God’s people. The only appreciation we should be looking for is that which comes from the Father´s lips, calling us servants (Luke 12.43).

Those who have been born again need to become a new mass; after all, they have been recreated in the Son of God. They have achieved this by the Word put into them, but it is important to remember that everything in the Scriptures will be ours by faith and not by desire. We need to be alert as we meditate on what God speaks to us, because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word (Romans 10.17). Without faith, there is no blessing (Hebrews 11.6)!

The old leaven in the Christian’s heart causes him to act as in the past, when he was still living in sin. It is necessary to cleanse ourselves of all this, because the Holy Spirit will not dispute with the devil for the guidance of our lives (Ephesians 4.17-24). If we allow, the Comforter will lead us in success. Now, if any part of us is devoted to the devil, the Lord will not compete with Satan. We decide whom to obey: God or the enemy.

When we are born again, we leave the old leaven behind, but living with the lost and even with certain “Christians”, we become contaminated and act as we did before salvation. It is easy to cleanse ourselves; all we have to do is renew our minds and we will experience the pleasing, good and perfect will of God (Romans 12.1,2). There is nothing better than to walk at the feet of Jesus, living out our faith in its entirety.

Here is the heavenly command: to rid ourselves of the product that leavens the soul, in order to be a new lump. This is natural for those who live in Christ, the true Passover, who was crucified in favor of humanity. If we had to pay any price to obtain freedom – it would be difficult, but Jesus provided it. Now, let us claim our rights, without letting the devil tempt us. After all, we are a garden closed to the Lord (Song of Songs 4.12).

Our position on everything changed when we received Jesus as Savior. However, because we are still in the world and often pay attention to the devil’s tricks, we have to ask: Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth (Psalm 141.3). If we believe, He will do that!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

Lord of our sanctification! We need to cleanse ourselves of all that corrupts us. Our joy is not on earthly things, but in You. We want to be used in the way that pleases You.

We are a new lump, without the leaven that made Eve delighted with the devil's lie, leading Adam to sin as well. We have to be transformed every day with the anointing of the Holy Spirit!

We claim the right to be renewed, because Jesus has already been sacrificed for us and in this way we receive salvation. There is nothing of the old leaven in us, thus, we can serve You in holiness and truth. Hallelujah!
