“We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfil all your petitions”
(Psalm 20: 5).

David sought to be the man according to the heart of God from his early age and he made the right choice. Since he walked near the Lord, he was revealed that salvation was on its way and that he’d get mankind out of the power of the enemy. When the psalmist got the whole picture of what was going to happen, he held on to the satisfaction that would overcome the whole world and got it out of his chest the following way: “We’ll rejoice in Your salvation”. That was a very happy statement for everyone who is saved rejoices in a special manner. Thankfulness for the redeeming work done by Jesus is something that comes from the heart of those who experience it.

You too should try to become someone according to the standards of the Lord; His heart’s pure and full of love and He does all He can to deliver us from the snares of our enemy. You must have the same pure heart and your whole being must be overcome by that unconditional love, I mean, it doesn’t depend on what someone did to you, just work in their favour! Do that because it’s our duty to love everyone. Those who are willing to please God should also do their best for His work to get everywhere on planet Earth so it’ll reach everybody. God doesn’t want any human to get lost (I Timothy 2: 3, 4). Delivering humankind from the traps of the devil must be the passion that should dominate all of us.

David mentioned the words: “to set up banners in the Name of God.” Each soul that surrenders to the Lord was conquered by us; yet, they were in the hands of the devil before. When we thrust the salvation flag pole in the ground we make the heart of our Father rejoice. Bear that in mind: we need to set up – or to lift up or to hoist – many banners in the Name of the Lord all around the world. We won’t have other opportunities to do that. There’ll be no more work to be done here once we’ve gone to our Father. Therefore, don’t waste either your days, or your assets or your gifts with futility. Be someone who sets up banners in the Name of Jesus!

And finally, the psalmist makes the following determined statement: “May the Lord fulfil all of your petitions”. He demonstrated here he wasn’t egoistical. When we give other people something, the Lord gives us much more. It feels good to be rewarded by our God who knows exactly what we need. We must never take the message of condemnation to the lost; instead, we must convey them the one which will make them strong and willing to seek the Most High.

Christians must enrich many though they might have nothing at all. God was very good to us when He planned to reward us 30, 60 and 100 times more than what we’ve done for His sake here on Earth and in eternity (Mark 4: 20). May your life be geared to rejoice and to set up banners for Christ and to bless others – that’s my prayer.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
