After taking the city of Ai and reducing it to a perpetual heap, Joshua went up Mount Ebal to build an altar to the God of Israel. This act showed gratitude for having been helped in battle and confidence in the Lord of hosts’ assistance in the other battles to be fought. The warrior fulfilled the call he had received to lead the people to take possession of the Promised Land.
Moses had mentioned this mountain as he spoke about the consequences of disobedience described in chapter 27 of Deuteronomy for those who did not keep the Law of the Lord. If, as you read some Bible passages, you understand that it is time to claim a right or obey a divine command, take possession of the victory! The Father will not refuse to answer you! The devil cannot work in the life of one who is faithful in keeping with the heavenly commandments.
Today the altar we build to God is our heart, so it must be cleansed from sin and devoted to doing the divine work in the spirit and under the direction of the High. The Most High only accepts a faithful heart, empty of the serpent’s ills, because within him there is gratitude and readiness to serve the Lord. We must be filled with the Holy Spirit!
The key to keeping communion with the Father is to refuse any evil work in your being, because you are the house dedicated to God. He is holy and can only dwell where there is holiness and zeal. In order to have a truly consecrated life, one must always meditate on the Scriptures. Only then will the enemy’s breath never reach him.
Those who surrender to God cannot harbor bad feelings. The Lord rejects the offerings of someone polluted or contaminated. He says we must be holy because He is holy (1 Pet. 1:16). He who does not care for or clean the altar he has erected will be empty and open a breach for the adversary to act. And finding him not, he saith, I will return to my house whence I came out (Luke 11:24).
You see, the altar is to be built only to the heavenly Father. So, don’t let other entities inhabit your body or invite them. Those who belong to Christ must strive never to confront Him, because undoubtedly the horrible thing is to fall into the hands of the living God (Heb. 10:31). Adorn yourself with the revelations of the Word and remember: the Almighty will visit you constantly to give you all that you determine.
On Mount Carmel, Elijah repaired the altar of the Lord. There he asked for the fire of heaven to come down and consume those who challenged him (2 Kings 1:10). As he asked, it occurred! The Omnipresent is larger than your petitions and can serve you. Leave your altar repaired!
In Christ, with love,

Lord of Israel! Today we know You as the God and Father of Jesus Christ, our Savior. The altar we have erected for you is in our hearts the bridge to communion with You and our Redeemer. Hallelujah!
Joshua served you in material matters, which were symbolic of the spiritual. Today, with the work done on Calvary, we can stand before You and give the sentence in the Name of Jesus. Thus we see the same power that you unleashed in Christ's day on earth.
Our altar can be restored. We live in a time when flesh excels. For this reason, we hear every day the evils practiced by those who do not love You. Help us to stand up!
