Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!  Psalm 80.19

Asaph understood that it was necessary to be restored, but sometimes, man does not want so. Those who abandoned their families because of a passion, for example, have not yet opened their eyes for the enemy’s blow, and think that they have found joy in the arms of another person. Even with their children begging for their return, they say that they will never return home. The lost person in a sinful adventure behaves as if he were outside of reality. Only divine mercy will make him return.

The same situation happens to a person who does not know the Lord. He is so used to sinning that he cannot hear those who warn him of danger. Therefore, the heavenly Father must give him the necessary understanding so that he may leave the enemy’s deception and return to normality. There are some operations, such as these, that only the Lord is able to do, and undoubtedly, He will do so if we ask Him. The Most High will not calculate efforts to attend us.

The psalmist understood that the return of a prisoner of the enemy is a war, and this return is only possible through divine intervention. Therefore, he invokes the Lord as the God of hosts. However, even if the enemy fights with all of his strength, he will not be able to confront he who faces him in the Name of Jesus. Therefore, whenever you battle in prayer for someone, pray with determination. The devil knows that he must obey every saved person.

It is important to ask the Omnipotent to make His face shine. This was not a simple and meaningless request. The shinning of the Lord´s face is the illumination that He grants us through His Word. With it, we discover His will on any subject, we see the way that we must walk, and we receive the necessary faith to solve our problems. Now, without faith no one can do anything in the divine work (Hb 11.6).

The light that we have from the face of Christ helps us to make the right decisions. Thus, we enter the fight knowing that we will be victorious. We need this trust to annul the lies that the evil one will use in order to weaken us or make us give up. With this light, we will never move from our intention. However, without it, we will fight in the dark, and thus, we will not know how to act in a wise manner.

The Lord’s objective in guiding Asaph to write this Psalm is our salvation. The Most High wants to see us victorious in our battles against the kingdom of darkness. Now, you should not enter in a war to see what will happen, but to assume the victory that the Lord provided through His death. Salvation must be complete for us and for all our family.

Those who return are only those who are honest and recognize that they have fallen for doing something that they shouldn’t, and that are ready to seek those they have offended and ask for forgiveness. God cannot step over any wicked act that we may have committed. If you have taken something from someone, or offended his honor, you must make things right with that person, and then, the Lord will make you return.

In Christ, with love,

Lord, God of hosts! What a title You have given Yourself, showing that in the battles, you are always victorious! Whoever seeks You must know that You are holy, and therefore, you will not cover up for someone who did something wrong and insists in being covered.

Jesus taught that we must get things right with the person that has something against us while we are with him in the way. If the person fails, or if we fail, there will be no time for reconciliation, and therefore, the loss will be great for he who let himself fail and not return.

With the light of Your face shining, we will be able to see well what we have done. In case our mistake has been only in the temptation sphere, we will not have sinned. However, if we consummate sin, we will have to reconcile with the person whom we offended or defrauded. Help us!
