Continuing his struggle to find the Lord’s direction that would get him out of the serious trouble in which he was involved, the psalmist remembered two facts and asked himself two questions: “Would God reject him forever?” and “Would He be favorable to him again?” Knowing the character of the Most High is one of the important steps toward the promised deliverance. It is worth remembering that the Scriptures clearly say that Jesus suffered our pains – our sufferings (Isaiah 53:4,5). Hallelujah!
When Asaph questioned himself, he already knew the answer. His watchful eyes had understood his mistake. Now, to exchange communion with the Creator for religious moments, in which the soul is carried away by the environment, but does not walk on the truth, is very harmful. Elijah, for example, saw that the Lord was not in the strong wind that split the rocks, nor in the earthquake that shook everything, nor in the fire, but in the soft and gentle voice (1 Kings 19:11,12). Believe and receive power!
Almost a thousand years before, Moses had stated that God’s people would never be abandoned: And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed (Deuteronomy 31:8). The eternal Word will never grow old or know deviation. Those who hear His voice understand that they need only confess the Word. The psalmist’s question was the answer itself!
We have not been taught to fully trust the Almighty. Perhaps the fact that we have no life-and-death battles to tell Christ, but few temptations, robs us of the blessing of truly believing in Him. Remember: the disciples had Jesus with them in the boat, but that was not enough to make the storm pass. The devil was about to kill them, and when they saw they were going to sink, they woke Him up. Wake Him up!
After being awakened, the Master asked how they still had no faith: But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:25). Many people read the Bible daily and claim to be saved, but do not make true use of God’s revelations. Whoever does not truly believe in the Lord, makes Him a liar: He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son (1 John 5:10).
To preach the Good News, the Gospel, is to announce the acceptable year of the Lord, as Jesus gave the interpretation of Isaiah 61:1-4, in the synagogue in Nazareth, saying that on that day that Scripture would be fulfilled (Luke 4:18-21). We need not wait any longer, because the Word has been fulfilled. Now, we must take possession of it and declare it to be ours. Do this by demanding that evil leave and never return.
The psalmist further asked: will He be favorable no more? The prophet Isaiah said that the good pleasure of the Lord would prosper: Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand (Isaiah 53:10). Believe!
In Christ, with love,

Father, Promise Keeper! We don't have to question about what is or isn't Your will - whether You want to bring an end to our problems - for the Scriptures have confirmed this. In fact, Jesus won the battle for our deliverance. It is up to us to take hold of it!
How much pain suffered for nothing? But You have done Your part; it is we who are wrong for not doing our part: take on our inheritance. Now, we use Your Name to put an end to evil. In the Name of Jesus, we command all suffering to leave
We are the people pleasing to You who must continually honor You by honoring Your words and command. We must climb the mountain of the Amorites and take possession of what is ours, and not choose spies to verify whether You are true or not. Forgive us our faults!
