And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” John 1:46

Nathanael’s prejudice-laden question did not disqualify him for eternal life. On the contrary, his questioning made him know in fact that Philip had found The One whom Moses, David and others had spoken.  What was said to the citizen from Bethsaida not only did not eliminate him from heavenly eternity, but made him even more sensitive to the Spirit of God than a religious zealot. God wants to see this difference in people. This way, they will know the Truth to the fullest.

Philip said to his friend: Come and see. The Creator is not losing the battle to the devil and yes in a very unconventional way often times is inviting the people to be by His side, offering healing from infirmities, forgiveness of sins and solution to their predicaments. This way, He has increased the number of believers and members of His Church.  God has carried on the great commission of salvation, which includes the healing of the infirm and the deliverance of the oppressed.

The words come and see are fundamental for each one to see the Truth for themselves, because there is no one who has accepted this divine calling without being enlightened by the Lord. However each one has to see, examine and verify.  This way they will confirm that God has called them up and convinced them.  Christ ordered us to examine the Scriptures (John 5:39).  By doing this, we will be surprised with what will be revealed to us.

John the Baptist sent two disciples to Jesus to ask Him: “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” (Matthew 11:3). That same instant the Master invited them to participate in His meeting and see what would be done in the lives of people who sought His help.  They testified that the blind saw, the deaf spoke, the deaf heard, the lame walked and the Gospel of the Kingdom of God was announced to the poor.  The disciples would report this to John.

Ask God to show you the glory of what He is doing around the world. When you receive this vision you will not allow yourself to be led by evil lies.  When you least expect it, your eyes will be opened to the greatness and goodness of the Lord towards men. He works and does more than we think or imagine.  For this reason we exclaim “We know in Whom we have believed!” (2 Timothy 1:12). You have the right to see up close the marvels and wonders of the Most High.

Joshua said to the people of Israel that they could not forego believing in the Lord.  Moses’s successor reminded the Hebrews that when their fathers were being persecuted by the Pharaoh’s army, they cried out to God and He brought darkness between them and the Egyptians.  Then the sea covered the persecutors. The Israelites saw what the Almighty had done for them in Egypt and then, they lived in the desert for many days (Joshua 24:1-7). God wants you to establish your faith firmly in Him; otherwise, you may be led astray.

Do like the people from Beth Shemesh; while they were harvesting wheat in the valley they lifted their eyes, saw the ark and were overtaken with joy ( 1 Samuel 6:13). The Gospel has to be delivered in  the power of  the Holy Spirit with signs, prodigies and wonders in order  that our faith not be built on religious philosophy, but instead solely on God.  Therefore, believe in the Lord through the signs presented by Him.

In Christ, with Love,

Lord of Truth revealed! The report that Nathanael was not eliminated from eternal life, but having You talk to him, calling him an Israelite with no harm intended, prods us to seek You to learn facts that will only strengthen us.

Nathanael wanted to know more than what Moses, David and others said concerning the Messiah and he was not exhorted for this.  Although he did show some prejudice, he was not reprimanded because he was more sincere in his faith than the others.

Philip´s invitation to Nathanael is useful to us.  Therefore, we accept the invitation ourselves as if we had been personally invited, because we want to see Jesus helping our faith to take root in You.  This way, we will face the storms and trials during our journey.
