An inheritance gained hastily at the beginning will not be blessed at the end. Proverbs 20.21

In many occasions, the Bible says that the hasty sin. When you feel that a blessing was promised to you, do not be hasty in taking possession of it. One of the missions of the Holy Spirit is to teach us about what belongs to us in Christ. Thus, it is good to consult Him about how and when we should determine something to happen. Sometimes, the promise will be fulfilled later; other times, it will happen right when it is revealed.

Those who walk in communion with the Lord know the time and manner of doing what has been announced to them. Therefore, in order to be faultless, do not let anyone nor anything – not even the urgency of a miracle – make you anticipate what God has given to you by using any other method that may not be the Lord’s. The hasty or anxious people may disrupt the divine plan by trying to take possession of something in the wrong time (Ph 4.6).

Those who have not even heard the promise and have claimed it already, without the divine instruction, do not act wisely. Perhaps, they still do not have the right structure to administer well what is going to be placed in their hands. It is correct to believe that all that the Lord promises will come true, but it is important to be mature in the faith, so that you do not act wrongly. Those who are not yet mature to be stewards of the Most High might be corrupted by power.

Saul hid himself so that Samuel would not find and anoint him King over Israel. However, afterwards, he was filled with envy for David and tried to kill him, for everything indicated that David would assume the kingdom in his place. We cannot say that Saul or Samuel acted hastily. Anyhow, the lack of spiritual preparation is dangerous for everyone who receives a promise, for if he assumes it hastily it might turn out to be something bad (Ec 3.1).

According to the Biblical understanding, being hasty is a sin. What God says is not open for discussion, but obeyed. He clearly says that it is not good to gain an inheritance before the right time. Even if everything might indicate that it is the right time, or that others will try to deceive you, follow the right steps until the Holy Spirit gives you the green light. Those who do not regard the divine counsel will notice later that they did not make the right decision. To walk safe is to follow the divine orientation (Ps 18.30).

Paul talked about a great door that had been opened to him (1 Co 16.9). But instead of entering it quickly, he asked for prayer. The Most High knows all things that will happen during our time on Earth. For that reason, He gave us His Holy Spirit to guide us. Those who declare, without pondering, that something is holy and must be quickly received might regret it later. However, this late repentance might be in vain.

The Lord desires that everything that is ours might be blessed. He would never give us anything that would cause us harm. It is necessary to feel His holy direction in order to take the right step. Therefore, in all opportunities that might be opened to you, pray. When you feel from God that it is the right time, advance! However, if the divine direction is for you to wait, obey!

In Christ, with love,

Omniscient God! Thank You for Your advice for us not to assume immediately what seems to be ours. Even in the moment of gaining our inheritance, which apparently does not need to wait for Your direction, we will be wise if we do not do it hastily.

Everything that You give us is blessed. However, our hurry might leave us in a complicated situation, and then, what should be blessing is not a blessing. We must have Your direction in all things, because then, we will always be guided in triumph.

Now, we ask that You might help us to pay attention to Your direction. We want You to make us discover if what comes before us is good or not. We cannot disobey You nor dishonor You. With Your guidance, we will never stumble in any obstacle.
