You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. Deuteronomy 13.4

This is a commandment to all those who are part of the people of God: walk after him. If a servant of the Lord, however, makes a decision on his own, then problems arise and he seeks guidance from God, he will not receive an answer from Heavens. One day, a man came to Jesus and asked him to tell his brother to divide the inheritance with him. Jesus’ answer was a question: “Who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?” (Luke 12.13,14).

It is always good to bear in mind that the Lord is not your colleague or employee, so that you will seek him only when you feel like it, or when you need help. He who does not respect the Almighty as God probably will never have any of his petitions answered. It is also worth remembering that he is the only and sovereign God, Lord of all, who does not let anyone mock him, because whatever a man sows, that he will also reap (Galatians 6.7).

God’s commandments are to be kept. Although Jesus is meek and humble, he is the Person of the Holy Trinity who upholds all things by the word of his power (Hebrews 1.3). Therefore, we owe him all respect, and whenever you need to make a decision in your life, pray for guidance from the Savior. If, at any moment, you feel that you should not do something, put that aside immediately and do not insist for the Lord to allow you to do such thing.

When you heed what the Creator says, your spirit is strengthened to carry out his work. But not to accomplish the mission that has been entrusted to you is never a good idea. When God reveals something, he has already done his part; and if we do our part too, the work will be done. The truth is that our God always keeps his promises. So pay attention to what he makes you understand through his Word, and then you will be successful.

He who believes in what God says is a true servant of the Lord. He who learns that he has already been healed and then demands that all disease leaves his body—remaining steadfast in that which he heard from God—will receive healing. The same thing is valid for prosperity and other matters. The Most High would never say something that he cannot carry out or which is not his will. Rest assured: the Lord is faithful to keep his promises (Psalm 33.4,5).

Besides serving the Lord, receiving the blessings promised or declared in his Word, you must strive to hold fast to him. Without any doubt, the all-powerful God has much more to do for those who seek him with all their hearts. When they are near him, there is no lack of revelation, protection and help, because the Lord rescues those who allow him to do so. On the other hand, those who disobey God or ignore his commandments will never see how good he is.

In Christ, with love,
