Surely every man walks about like a shadow; surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, and does not know who will gather them.   Psalm 39.6

The desire to have possessions and be considered the best in the family, in the community, or among the leadership in government, businessmen and sportsmen, makes most individuals enter into a crazy and unbridled competition, which can turn them into bad citizens and criminals. Why do people embark on the paths of the evil one when they could be on the good path of the Creator?

Many don’t notice that they walk like a shadow produced by natural actions that few know about: the movements of the Earth around the Sun. The days go by and we miss the opportunity to do good, an act that can give us eternal reward and glory. The Word declares: Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap (Galatians 6:7). You will reap only what you sow!

The restlessness of modern life leads many people to leave early for the afterlife, because their hearts can’t take so much pressure. Anxiety is also the mother of the diseases that plagues the world these days. With this feeling comes frustration for not being able to achieve one’s goals, and sadness, which causes depression, contempt for the good things in life, drug addiction and the desire to kill oneself. It’s sad to see many suffering because they lack Jesus!

Those who amass wealth without proper preparation accumulate worries. Those who have never meditated on the Bible think that Christians are fanatics, without the slightest sense of good living. However, such people live exactly the opposite. Why let yourself drift like a boat carried away by the flow? Those who venture to seek God because of their unhappiness, which prevents them from enjoying what they have, will find the answer!

The Scriptures tell us that the person whose purpose is to get rich by loving money is actually planting the root of all evil in themselves: For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows (1 Timothy 6.10). It’s good to stay away from this pernicious love, because it will destroy your life. Watch, pray and believe!

People should stop loving money, refusing to submit to this storm of bad things that have destroyed them. There is nothing better than loving Jesus, having and keeping His commandments. Besides driving out the powers of the kingdom of darkness, you become someone wise and successful you never imagined before. Your family will undoubtedly thank you for it!

When the time comes for you to leave this life, who will have what you “killed yourself” to get? Denying the good in order to accumulate riches is stupid; after all, your life will pass like a shadow. So, strive to please the Lord by doing His will, and you’ll be in for a tremendous surprise, because you won’t lack the resources to live well. Your heavenly Father really loves you!
