“I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able.” (I Corinthians 3:2)

The pursuit to achieve the maturing of faith must become the goal for those who want to be winners in all areas of life. Yet, no one will ever grow up spiritually being fed only on “milk”, the superficiality of the Word of God. The immature in faith are used to shouting at their friends; they keep complaining that they don’t dance to the sound of their flute and that they don’t cry when their lamentations are sung. The Lord wants us to behave as grown-ups.

There’s no evolvement without true food. Milk is for a baby’s first months, but then, they need solid food. Those who don’t walk towards perfection will never experience what the heroes of faith did. Our Father wants to use us the same way He used Moses, Elijah and so many others. The empire of darkness isn’t fooling around with the work of God: its main goal is to devastate it. If we are not
instruments of the Lord – as were our brethren in the biblical days – we’ll cause great harm to the Kingdom of God.

The “babies” in faith aren’t qualified to eat fine meals. We need to seek the God of the prophets and that one of the apostles and of the Lord Jesus Christ. Millions of people will go to hell if we don’t change our spiritual attitudes. If we let ourselves be carried away by the pleasures of flesh, if we commit physical or mental adultery and if we go for earthly things rather than the spiritual ones we’ll be guilty at the eternal judgment.

Those who are only fed only on “milk” will never become grown-ups in faith. Time goes by and they still don’t understand the reason why God’s not listening to them. They might hamper the divine plan because, like children, they wrongly think that they must be the first in everything. They usually tell lies, and they betray the lost and use them in unthinkable, filthy and criminal ways to achieve their goals. All that matters for them is that the work must be done by them themselves, so they think the end justifies their means.

Don’t let yourself be deceived by our enemy; seek the perfection of faith. The closer you get to it the more you’ll please God and then you’ll be free from the deceits of the flesh. Envy, greed and the other flaws of character don’t exist in the hearts of those who know the Lord and truly serve Him.

You decide the kind of food you’ll be eating. If you keep on being nurtured on “milk” you’ll never manage to become a perfect male grown-up, a thorough man, a useful servant and a winner in all senses.

Don’t hide your talent, but grow up as much as necessary for you to be able to trade with what you’ve been given and manage to double what you’ve been granted by the Lord. This way you’ll be given praises and rewards on the Great Day and you’ll also be invited to take part in the Kingdom prepared since the foundation of the world.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
