The Israelites would be very blessed, but they couldn’t waste the abundance given by the Most High. This is a lesson for us! Many times, we don’t value God’s blessings. As a consequence, in an emergency, we get desperate and pray to God to help us. But if we feel that He will not answer us, we blame Him for the lack we have. The children of the Lord must not live as the unbelievers do, in the vanity of their minds.
Let’s understand the verse in this study as if it takes place in the year 2000 of our era. The Israelites would consume the grain harvested in 1998 until the next harvest arrived. Then they would eat the one harvested in 1999 and save the new one for 2001. However, they would only make use of it when the new harvest arrived in 2002, and so on. They would never lack food because of drought or any other phenomenon. It´s good to be cautious!
Droughts or periods of low production occur for various reasons, one of which is sin. We have seen that the world often goes into recession and economic crises arise. Because they have not prepared themselves, many sell their properties during these periods, for much less than they are worth, in order to pay off debts or solve some emergency. If they learned from the Lord, none of this would happen.
The Word teaches us to imitate the ant: Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest (Proverbs 6.6-8). He who doesn’t listen to biblical counsel doesn’t know how much he loses! But whoever listens to God, gets rid of a lot of trouble. The Father is faithful and truly loves us.
Whoever disregards the Lord’s guidance – gives way to the devil. Faced with an open door, the enemy does not hesitate to enter and do his nefarious work. The Father has warned us: Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law (Romans 13:8). So don’t open the door to Satan and his kingdom, because they will come in and make you eat the bread of tears. Honor God!
The Most High wants to see His children prosper and enjoy the best – without waste. He warns us not to borrow money and instructs us to lend to many people: the Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. (Deuteronomy 28.12)
The person who trusts God hears His voice in the Word and soon follows His instructions. Now, if you are not sure of the divine revelation – pray first, for God is wise and doesn’t speak in parts. He shows us clearly how to act in order to hear Him and respond to His voice. Those saved by Jesus will never turn back in their faith.
In Christ, with love,

Lord of abundance! It is unacceptable for some of Your children to suffer for lack of Your revelation, the wonders, the prodigies and signs. We are too far behind in supplies and operations to truly praise You!
The children of Israel should always eat the previous year's harvest until the new one arrived. Then they would throw away the stale one. But that is not what we see in the midst of Your people today. The lack of knowledge of who You are has harmed us!
You promised not to take your eyes off us, leading us to fruitfulness in everything. It’s our fault, that hasn’t happened. However, the promise to confirm Your Covenant with us will make us experience Your love!
